Thursday Thirteen #54

Thirteen Things That Define Canada

I was searching my mind for a good idea for this week's TT and I couldn't help, but realise it falls into the same week as both Canada Day, and the U.S.A Independence Day holidays. Since I am a Canadian I thought I would list some things that absolutely define Canada. Here goes:

1. Maple Leaf

2. Hockey => Lord Stanley's Cup

3. Our Canadian flag

4. The Beaver

5. Canadarm

6. Canada Day

7. Peacekeeping

8. Pierre Trudeau

9. Universal health care

10. Niagara Falls

11. The Rocky Mountains

12. Canadian Constitution/ Charter of Rights/Bill of Human Rights

13. Tim Hortons

Happy TT, and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my American readers a very happy, and safe Fourth of July long weekend!

I will be away most of Thursday, but will reply asap to all comments left here, and visit your own TT lists as soon as I get back to my computer.

Get the Thursday Thirteen code here!

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! Well, Happy Canada day to you! And Happy TT :)

What is Canadarm?

Canada is a great place. I could imagine living there, one day!

Mmmm. Tim Hortons.

And the Montreal Canadiens (and the old Forum, as well as Maple Leaf Gardens).

Man, no fair. Now I am having a Tims craving and, of course, there aren't any near me...

And, the beautiful Canadian anthem ("Oh, Canada!") Which my mom always sings at our Fourth of July celebrations because she's Canadian.

I have heard so much about Tim Hortons that I may have to visit Canada just to check it out.

I grew up 15 miles from Ontario in northern NY...and I miss being that close. My Canada reminders would include: Rush, The Forum in Montreal (not the commercialized thing there now), CHEZ-106 (the radio station I listened to growing up), and Molson.

Great list! Happy TT!

No. 4 steals my heart and says so much about Canada. Beavers are down to earth, industrious, community minded, givers (their bogs sustain life beyond life), and oh so beautifully plain. What you see is what you get, but what you get is nothing short of amazing.

Great list, mine is up at 13 Not So Famous Last Words; Most Americans die peacefully in their beds, but for those who die violently one can only guess what their final words must have been. I think that after you read these you will have to agree that they do indeed sound like they might have been the last words of those who did not go peacefully into the night.

Alice -> The Canadarm is a Canadian designed and built robotic arm used on the four American Space Shuttles. :)
