My blessing today is our public transit system here in Toronto.
I was talking to my Sis this past week about the high cost of living these days. My sister is a single parent that lives, and works outside of the urban centre, and therefore public transit is not a handy option for her.
Lately she has been having a harder time making ends meet between the higher cost of groceries, her car payments, insurance, and of course the very high price of gasoline.
While Matthew, and I have noticed the higher prices on certain goods at our local grocery market, and even the vegetable stands we do not have the seemingly massive expense of car ownership.
To be honest with the gas costs alone sky-rocketing, plus we would have to pay for added parking we simply could not afford a car even if we really wanted one.
Our public transit service is far from perfect, but it is affordable, fairly clean, and for the majority of the time very reliable. Our ability to use it as our primary mode of transport also allows us to feel like we our helping out our environment, which to us is a very good thing.
Cheers!
