When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd
When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom'd,
And the great star early droop'd in the western sky in the night,
I mourn'd, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.
Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring,
Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west,
And thought of him I love.
- Walt Whitman
I know...but I am just one of those types that cannot keep wordless. I also immediately thought of this poem when I first took a look at the photo in my photo shop program, and when I make strange connections like that for whatever reason I always try to go with them. The poem itself is much longer, and can be read through the University of Toronto website here. American visitors may recognize it as written about President Abraham Lincoln.
Cheers!
