I title this one "A Girl & Her Sasquatch"

That is my girl Mary. We rescued her from the local shelter four years ago. She is named after the Scottish Queen.

Here she is asleep on my computer case seemingly snuggled up with my Sasquatch stuffed doll. Some people think of him as a Yeti, but I call him Sasquatch.

Here is a closer view.

It is certainly warm up there, and I enjoy her quiet presence as I type.

This week I thought I would share a very old photo of my grandmother Julianna, and her boys.

I do not have an exact date, but this photo was taken sometime between the late 1920's and the early 1930's in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

My Dad is the eldest pictured in the middle with his brothers my uncles Mike, and Joe on his left, and right. Despite being a child, and a young teen living through the Great Depression where even food became scarce he often talked of that time period in his life with fondness. It is amazing to me how children will often find happiness under the harshest of circumstances.

I only wish that I would have had the opportunity to learn about Julianna's life through her directly. Unfortunately she passed away when I was only two years old. I do have one memory of standing on a stool beside her, and washing dishes. Apparently she doted over me as I was the only girl grandchild living nearby at that time, and her own only daughter had died at the age of two because of diphtheria.

When Julianna passed away my Mom helped to sort through her belongings, and she found packed away in my grandmother's steamer trunk some small vintage dresses that Julianna had held onto for all of those years. This greatly touched my Mother's heart.
