Royal

I love the Tudor era English monarchs, and was thrilled with the news that a portrait of the Princess Elizabeth later to be Queen Elizabeth I has surfaced in a home in the United Kingdom.

Elizabeth with siblings Edward VI and Mary I, father Henry VIII and his jester, Will Somers.

I have enlarged, and cropped the above image so that you can have a better view of Princess Elizabeth who is on the right.

Here is a snippet from the BBC write-up on this amazing discovery!

The portrait, dating from 1650 to 1680, was found in the Duke of Buccleuch's collection at Boughton House.

It shows Elizabeth with siblings Edward VI and Mary I, father Henry VIII and his jester, Will Somers.

It is a copy of an original panel painting, which is thought to date back to the early 1550s.

The portrait was examined by historians Alison Weir and Tracy Borman after they were told of its existence by the director of Boughton House.

It will now be put on display at the stately home, and historians hope to trace the original through publicising the discovery.

Portraits of Queen Elizabeth I before her accession to the throne are extremely rare, with only two other proven portraits known - one at Hampton Court and the other at Windsor Castle.

This terrific piece of art depicting the Tudor era is to go on public display this August 2008.

A Good Morning Cup Of Coffee

I thought I would treat myself to a cup of coffee this morning at our local McDonalds. Yep, you heard me McDonalds! I know a lot of you may be thinking they tend to make a pretty generic cup of joe, but hey its very handy for me, and the price is always right, and if you have not grabbed a cup of coffee from them lately you may be surprised at how they have worked on making the taste much better.

Our local McDonalds is quite pretty. That is a photo of it from this very morning that I've added in above, and below is a longer shot from across the street.

I always walk in as our local restaurant does not have drive through. We are in a very urban part of town, and we do have a side window for cyclists, pedestrians, and subway commuters. However, I do like to go in as our local staff is always quite cheerful on weekday mornings, and they have a nice second storey as you can see in the photo, with very large windows for people, and/or traffic watching. It is a pleasant way to start off the morning rush..... :D

I have found that the coffee at McDonalds has gotten better over the years, especially recently. In fact they have some pretty cool promotions going on at the moment in regards to their coffee. You can check out more on the McDonald's coffee story via this Friends4Coffee linky. Go ahead give it some clicky love. :D It is a fun, interactive site where you can share your own personal coffee stories, make videos etc. Enjoy!

Cheers!

Found Money

If you found $1000 dollars in an unmarked wallet on the street, what would you do? Be specific. Don’t just say, “keep it,” Or “turn it in.” WHY would you keep it? HOW would you turn it in? (And if you turned it in, would you follow up to see if anyone claimed it later?)

I would do the right thing, and by that I mean I would take the wallet, and it's contents intact, and turn it into the police. No matter who tempted I might be to keep it I wouldn't because my conscience would not allow for that. I also am a believer in karma.

Here in Canada in these situations if a claim is not made by someone the police can prove the wallet belong to it will after several months (I think it is 12) give it back to the person/s who turn it over in the first place. If that happened I would try to do something nice for my family or someone else in need with it. At that point it would be found money. :)

Cheers!
