Wordless Wednesday

A young Burmese survivor of Cyclone Nargis eats in Dagon township on the outskirts of Rangoon.

As heartbreaking as images like these are I think it is important we here in the west see them. Food is getting through. I would like to suggest to anyone that can spare even a few dollars please make a donation to the Red Cross just click on the link to read about their efforts in Burma. Why I decided to post up the Red Cross website is because they can and do help. My mother was a DP or Displaced Person, and grew up in a refugee camp. She would not be alive today if people in the West had not opened their hearts, and wallets, and helped organizations like the Red Cross, which she has never forgotten in her 73 years.

Happy Wordless Wednesday! And thanks so much for stopping by!

Cheers!

Working Out The Plastic

This past weekend saw the plastic getting a lot, and I mean A LOT of usage as we outfitted the middle kiddo with her prom dress, new shoes, matching jewellery, oh and did I forget to mention the "Spring Fling" dress that is needed for this upcoming weekend! Phew!

I am not one for shopping in a whirlwind, but was very happy to have my credit card as opposed to carrying about a large sum of cash in my purse. I don't know about you, but I freak whenever I have to carry around more than $50 bux cash.

Speaking of credit cards, it is topic that also came up this past weekend regarding the middle kid's moving away this coming Fall to pursue her post secondary education. We have been checking out credit card reviews
like the ones offered through the Credit Card Club website. We would like to get her a basic credit card with a minimum limit for emergency purchases while she is away. The site is a great way to check out different offers with no obligation, and find the right type of card for your needs. Definitely worth surfing on over to if you are thinking of applying for or switching credit cards for a better rate.

Cheers!

Update On My Stupid Thyroid Condition

Well it has been four months now since I was first diagnosed with Grave's Disease. I have been on Tapazole for 6 weeks now, and seeing a big difference in my symptoms. No more sleeping pills, and I am off the beta blockers yayyyy!!! I am looking forward to seeing the Endo in 2 weeks and seeing how my blood work looks. Will also keep on the look out for possible Hypo symptoms as was suggested to me by others who have gone this route. I'm still on 30mg Tapazole per day, and hopefully that will be cut down after my next appointment.

Cheers!

Wild Times In NYC

It is vacation time coming up again, and one of my own personal fave places to visit is NYC. Things to do in New York City are so varied because it is such a diverse, and happening city! There is really no other place like it :)

Firstly I love the city for its history. :D

19th-century brownstone rowhouses in Brooklyn

These homes are fabulous, and a definite draw for history buffs, and yes ghost story enthusiasts like myself for a good old fashioned walking tour. For me that is a walk on the wild side => quite literally. :D

Granted I have been told I'm pretty brave for a. walking through Central Park, and b. taking the NYC subway the last time I was there! :p

There is just so much to do as far sightseeing tours go that you might just want to check out Trusted Tours & Attractions as they have a very comprehensive listing, plus can save you a lot of cash at the same time. And in NYC the more pocket money you've got for shopping the better.

If you have not checked out their website before you may want to have a look, they cover things to do in Atlanta all the way to San Francisco, and pretty much all the fun vacation spots in between. If this sounds like something you might be interested in you should sign up for their free Trusted Travels eNewsletter asap because you could win a $150 iTunes gift card just for joining by the end of this month => May 31st. Aside from the chance to win the newsletter is a really cool way to get some money saving ideas and suggestions or just some vacation tips.

I hope to travel to NYC again in the near future, and check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art, somewhere I would love to visit, and have missed all three times I have visited in the past.

Do you have vacation plans yet? What are you up to this summer?

If you are visiting for HOT day please see my groovy peace entry below this one.

Cheers!
