IBM helps blind 'see' web video

As many of you already know through my previous writing my step Dad is legally blind, so this news on the A-browser is of particular interest to our family. Read on:

Technology giant, IBM, is soon to launch a multimedia browser to make audio and video content accessible to people with vision impairments.

Codenamed the Accessibility Browser - or A-Browser - the software was created by a blind employee in Japan.

The A-Browser will give blind and partially-sighted people the same control over multimedia content that sighted people have using a mouse.

IBM says it will be available later this year and hopes it will be free.

The A-Browser is the creation of Dr Chieko Asakawa, a blind employee at IBM's research laboratory in Tokyo.

Full BBC article here

Hopefully the A-Browser will be available in Canada in the near future. It will greatly expand, the otherwise limited online world for people like my step Dad.

Cheers!

International organization rejects '.xxx' porn domain

From CNN:

LISBON, Portugal (CNN) -- An international agency tasked with the responsibility of setting guidelines for the creation of Internet domain names voted Friday to reject a company's proposal to create an ".xxx" domain for adult Web sites.

The proposal by Toronto-based Internet domain operator ICM Registry LLC was voted down 9-5 by the board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). It would have allowed adult websites to voluntarily participate in the industry's first devoted online domain space.

ICANN represents "the final word" on the creation of an ".xxx." domain name, Andrew Robertson, a consultant to the agency, told CNN. However, Robertson added the agency could vote on the matter again during its next round of applications.

This really is a shame. When I first heard of the proposal I thought it was brilliant. A domain that would clearly denote content, would have served not only the industry, but families as it would have allowed for easier configuration of software aimed at preventing children from accessing these types of site. It is too bad that ICANN did not have the visionary sense to go forward with the domain.

Earning A Part -Time Income Online

When I started this blog back in November 2006, I asked the question can a part-time income be earned online? I promised you my readers I would let you know what worked, what didn't, and basically how I was doing in that regard. It's now the end of March 2007, and I can answer the question "can a part-time income be earned online?" With a big PHAT YES!!!!

Here are March totals:

Pay Per Post $381.07 US

Loud Launch $133.00 US

Blogsvertise $70.00

MyLot $13.86 US - You do not need a blog for this one

Survey Lion - $5.00 US

Grand Total For March = $602.00 US

Since Pay Per Post was only joined mid-month it is feasible to double that number for April.

I'd like to thank all of you who offered advice, and support from the very beginning in particular Shawn, and Matthew for their kindness.

I have purposely left out programs that only earned cents, or turned out to be scams.

As always your advice, and comments are important to me. If you have questions or think I may be able to help you out by swapping links etc, just leave a comment below.

Perhaps now the goal should be trying to earn a full-time income online!

Cheers!

PETA calls for broader pet food recall

From CNN:

RICHMOND, Virginia (AP) -- Animal rights advocates are calling on federal food safety regulators and pet food companies to expand a nationwide recall of dog and cat food to include dry varieties, claiming they make pets sick.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday it had no plans to suggest a wider recall to pet food companies, and veterinarians said they have not seen a trend of animals becoming ill after eating dry pet food.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals plans to make the appeal Friday in Washington after it said it received complaints from pet owners who claim their animals suffered kidney failure after eating dry pet food.

Norfolk, Virginia-based PETA wants the FDA and the companies to extend the recall to foods that have received complaints, chemically test it and perform necropsies on the animals involved. It also wants companies prosecuted if the FDA's probe turns up wrongdoing.

FDA spokeswoman Julie Zawisza said she did not know how many of the more than 7,000 complaints the agency has received have concerned dry pet food. The FDA plans to release preliminary results from its investigation into the recall Friday.

Officials at Ontario, Canada-based Menu Foods, which made the recalled pet food, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Full article here.

My regular readers already know my rather low feelings on so-called "animal rights group" PETA, particularly after this statement made by them: "Even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we'd be against it." While at the same time a diabetic high-level PETA executive uses insulin....duh!

But I digress....

At this point a full product recall, including dry food should be in order. I don't know about you, but as a pet owner I was highly disturbed by news that animals were dying from rat poison laced wet products. Why take the chance!

Cheers!

FDA announces withdrawal of drug used to treat Parkinson's

You have to wonder whenever certain medications, and drugs are recalled, or withdrawn completely how long were human trials carried out before being introduced to the general public? Read on:

ROCKVILLE, Md. (CNN) -- The Food and Drug Administration announced Thursday that the makers of a drug that eases the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease have agreed to withdraw it from the U.S. market, with rare exceptions, after reports linking it to heart valve problems have strengthened.

"The basic conclusion we have reached is that pergolide had no demonstrated or particularly plausible advantage over any of the other therapies for Parkinson's Disease," Dr. Robert Temple, director of the agency's Office of Drug Evaluation, said about the drug, which is sold under the trade name Permax.

The drug's link to heart valve problems has known for at least four years, and many doctors have already switched their patients to other drugs, leaving an estimated 12,000 to 25,000 people still taking it in the United States, he told reporters in a conference call.

The agency, which urged patients not to stop taking the drug abruptly, is working with the drug makers to devise an arrangement where limited quantities of the drug would remain available to those people "who find they simply cannot get along without this drug," Temple said.

Forgive me for being cynical where the large drug companies are concerned.by I've been through this type of thing before when my mother was prescribed Celebrex only to have it withdrawn due to it's implication in several deaths.

Wal-Mart A No-Go In New York City

From Reuters:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Frustrated by a bruising, and so far unsuccessful battle to open its first discount store in New York City, Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s chief executive said, "I don't care if we are ever here."

H. Lee Scott Jr., the chief executive of the nation's largest retailer, said at a meeting with editors and reporters of The New York Times that trying to conduct business in the U.S.'s largest city was so expensive -- and exasperating -- that "I don't think it's worth the effort."

He said Wal-Mart executives have lobbied for a store in New York, but he remains unconvinced. "It's too hard to make money here," he said.

Full article here.

It appears that discount giant Wal-Mart might be failing in it's battle to break out of the suburban, and into the urban market.

From an urbanite consumer's point of view I do admit to shopping at Wal-Mart on occasion for goods, and sundries as their prices on brand name products are highly competitive, yet I do not see them succeeding in the down-town core. Urban dwellers for the most part are a younger, hipper shopper, and Wal-Mart's corporate image may not fit into their own ideals.

Your thoughts? Do you shop Wal-Mart?

Cheers!

Do You Need Some Cash?

Do you need some cash quick, to pay of a bill, or get some extra groceries? I have been in those types of tight spots where I need money today, but pay day is still a few days away. I think all of us go through it at some time.

Today I reviewed a one stop online resource for Payday Loans. This website contains information, and an easy to use online application form. They even provide a quick APR calculator for you to use. Very handy!

If you are living in California you can obtain free information on California payday loans. New Jersey residents can find info on New Jersey Payday loans easily as well. A complete state by state listing can be found on the Payday Loans Getting Started page.

If you need some cash like yesterday, this is the site for you! And be sure to read through the informative articles listed on the site. They will give you some great insight into the process!

Design Your Own Business Cards

Today, I am reviewing an online company where you can design your own business cards at a good price.

I use business cards both professionally, and personally. Business cards are an excellent way to market yourself in a fun, and memorable way! Therefore I carry at all time two sets, depending upon, which purpose I need them for.

One of the services that immediately interested me about 123Print.com is that they provide thousands of free templates, allowing their customers the ability to create proffessional, and unique cards. I was also impressed with how easy they make the experience, there is no software to download, and it looks like a fun way to get the creative juices flowing!

While on the 123Print.com I noted the shipping, which is next day, so super fast for those that are in need of cards in a hurry.

They also offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, that tells me they are confident in the quality of their own products, something you should all watch for with any company. There is a toll-free number as well for customer contact, again a positive sign that this company cares about their client's needs.

Overall, very positive, and yes, I would personally purchase my own business cards through them.

The Power Of Word Of Mouth Advertising

From The BBC:

Word-of-mouth marketing, the latest advertising boom in the US, is coming to Britain. Would you be prepared to slip a casual product endorsement into a cosy chat with friends?

The average Briton is bombarded with more than 3,000 adverts a day. From Coronation Street to the school sports day, almost every aspects of our lives seems to be sponsored these days. Ads are squeezed in, on and around everything we see, do and use.

It's relentless and we are starting to turn off and tune out. Only 14% of regular campaigns now have any effect, according to Marketing Week. To put it simply, we've grown tired and cynical of traditional advertising tactics.

But what we do trust is a personal recommendation. Positive word-of-mouth has always been the advertisers' Holy Grail. On a credibility scale it comes top and traditional commercials come bottom, says advertising author Tom Himpe.

Now, word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing, already established in the US and Canada, is coming to the UK, the Magazine can reveal. And it means the banter you enjoy with their mates down the pub on a Friday night could soon shift into sales patter.

Full Article Here

I wonder what the advertisers are paying? ... ;)

Actually the article goes on to state that the W.O.M ambassadors if you will are unpaid volunteers, yet I cannot fathom why anybody would do it unless they felt that strongly about a product or service in the first place.

Not certain how I feel about sponsored casual conversation, but I will keep you all in the loop on this latest sales & marketing technique.

More than 1 in 10 Brits victimized online?

Is the question reader Paul McNamara asks in his online article based on the BBC article on internet safety that I blogged about earlier today.

In response to that entry, Paul left a comment directing me to his own article, where he takes a serious, and sceptical look at the BBC statistical analysis of online fraud victims.

Definitely worth the read, and your consideration. You can read his article here.

Anna Nicole Smith

From The CBC:

"Former model Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental drug overdose, Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said at a press conference in Florida Monday morning.

After a thorough investigation, which included combing through 100 hours of video and two laptop computers, police found "nothing unusual" and "nothing to indicate foul play," Tiger said, including "no evidence of illegal drugs."

I am not surprised, but still think it an awful shame when someone so young passes on as a result of such stupidity.

Many net users 'not safety-aware'

From The BBC:

Fewer than half of the UK's 29m adult internet users believe they are responsible for protecting personal information online, a survey suggests.

One in six of the 2,441 people surveyed felt responsibility rested with banks.

The research, for a government-backed online safety campaign, found 12% had suffered online fraud in the last year - at an average loss of £875.

Full BBC article here.

Depressing news, but not surprising. I actually know someone who was taken in by the Nigerian email scam at the tune of $10,000 dollars. He is a friend's Dad, an otherwise intelligent seeming fellow who at the age of 85 is a newbie to the online world.

Here are a few tips from the BBC that can help you stay safe online, and avoid potential, and costly heartaches.

1. Use passwords made up of letters and numbers and change them regularly

2. Install spam filters and if you do receive spam messages, delete them immediately

3. Install anti-spyware and anti-virus software and keep it up to date

4. Ensure home wi-fi has a password and firewall

5. If you suffer an online fraud, report it to your bank, the police and the retailer you used

6. Ensure your computer's firewall is switched on

Feel free to add in your own tips for newbie users in my comments section.

Repairing Your Bad Credit 101

Today, I'd like to talk to you about a way to either establish or repair your credit rating, and it is a method I have tried myself, and it works!

A Secured Credit Card is a line of credit that you have complete control over. These cards enable you to make purchases, and build your credit rating using the amounts of money you put into them. In other words, if you put $500.00 onto the card, your limit will be that $500.00.

When I first heard of Secured Credit Cards as a means of repairing or establishing credit I thought the idea was brilliant! I personally have obtained one, and they do work! I also advised my 20 year old daughter who is working on building her credit rating to follow suit.

A good credit rating is imperative to building, and managing wealth. A Secured Credit Card can help you to achieve just that in no time.

Cheers!

File This Under Scary Internet Use

FAIRFAX, Virginia -- Early one Sunday morning in 2002, a phone rings in Yu Ling's Beijing duplex. She's cleaning upstairs; her son is asleep, while downstairs, her husband, Wang Xiaoning, is on the computer. Wang writes about politics, anonymously e-mailing his online e-journals to a group of Yahoo users. He's been having problems with his Yahoo service recently. He thinks it's a technical issue. This is the day he learns he's wrong.

Wang picks up the phone: "Yes?"

"Are you home?" asks the unfamiliar voice on the other end.

"Yes."

The line goes dead.

Moments later, government agents swarm through the front door -- 10 of them, some in uniform, some not. They take Wang away. They take his computers and disks. They shove an official notice into Yu's hands, tell her to keep quiet, and leave. This is how it's done in China. This is how the internet police grab you.

Full article here.

Scary! Wang's wife blames Yahoo for what happened and now that she is in the United States intends to sue for damages. Both Yahoo and Google have been criticized by human rights groups for complying with the Chinese government's demands for sensitive information according to the article.

Perhaps it's time that the Great Firewall come down.

Just Add Coffee T-Shirts Offend Mormons

Shop sells T-shirts showing Mormon angel with coffee flowing into his trumpet.

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) -- For a coffee shop, T-shirts of a Mormon angel with java flowing into his trumpet are selling well. But they don't have the blessing of religious leaders.

The shirts have upset the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not only is the angel Moroni a revered figure -- Mormons believe he appeared to church founder Joseph Smith -- but church members are discouraged from drinking coffee.

The shirts show Moroni, a male figure in a robe blowing a trumpet. The trumpet is turned up at an angle as coffee is poured in.

"They've been the best-selling T-shirts we've ever done," said Just Add Coffee co-owner Ed Beazer.

Full article here.

Do you think that the Mormon Church is being just a wee bit too touchy with this one? I mean it is supposed to be a bit of fun, and in no way derogatory according to company officials?

Sometimes I think that we have all gone a little overboard with political correctness. The fact that the Church goes on to state, "Mormons are discouraged from drinking coffee," is a little ludicrous in my humble opinion.

What do you think?

NYC Style!!!!

Have you checked out New York Nitty Gritty yet? I have been told by a photographer friend that he was overwhelmed trying to shoot in NYC. Not true of this awesome photo blog!!! The images are stunning!!!!!

Go check it out!!!

FSBO Online Sales And Marketing Tool

I'd like to introduce you to a fantastic site that offers comprehensive listings on homes that are for sale by their owners, or FSBO homes.

Homes for sale by owner is a website geared to FSBO listings, and will list your house or property for free until the selling date. The site is an excellent sales, and marketing tool as it give you the ability to reach millions of prospective buyers as opposed to more traditional methods such as costly newspaper listings or lawn signs.

You can upload photos, and give detailed information on your home through this easy to use website.

What impressed me about this site is it's function ability in ease of searches. Listings by State are easily located on the main page, saving much time for the potential buyer to seek listings that would be relevant to their own needs, and wants. The more user-friendly a website is the more likely people will actually use it. And this site gets two-thumbs up in that department!

If you are a home owner that is selling on your own I do recommend that you check this website out. Again, it is free to join!

Cheers!

The Buzz On Skin Care

Since turning 40 last January my overall health has become a priority for me, in particular I'm concerned about taking good care of my skin. I have always been very aware of the benefits of the products I use, but even more so in the past couple of years.

Kinerase is a product line that is safe to use, and beneficial in erasing wrinkles caused by sun damage, and much more. The Kinerase skin care regimen is approved by doctors, and the best part is it can be used in conjunction with sunscreen, and make-up.

SkinCare-MD.com
has several lines of healthy products for every skin type. The company is physician owned, and their website provides a series of highly informative articles on skin care.

If you too are concerned about your health, and skin care then you will also want to check out this website, and their skin care lines.

Tests find rat poison in recalled pet food

From the CBC:

The head of an Ontario-based pet food company said Friday he has no idea how rat poison got into its products, but denied his company was negligent.

"At this stage, we don't know," Menu Foods chief executive Paul Henderson told reporters at a news conference in Mississauga, Ont. "We have a lot of work to do."

While there is no word yet as to how the poison got into the various brands of pet food that were recalled, my money is on a disgruntled, and very twisted employee.

My thoughts, and prayers go out to the families that lost their pets due to this.

Juicy Pay Per Post Gossip

I've already told my peeps how AWESOME joining Pay Per Post has been for me at Nuttin' But Pimp. Bloggers like myself will tell you that not only does this program put cash in our pockets, but it is also a substantial way to increase site traffic! Now that is cool! Advertisers already know that Pay Per Post is the hottest marketing strategy to hit the net, so it's all good!

But that ain't all she's wrote about the Pay Per Post story ... not by a long shot!

There are some rumours circulating around the net about the big announcement coming out of Pay Per Post HQ in the very near future, and I'm going to give you the juice....heehe well I think I know what it's going to be...

I think Pay Per Post has done so phenomenally well that they have decided on world domination, I mean international expansion of their corporate offices of course!

The first office will be opened in Toronto, Canada, where they will immediately be hiring on their most fave Canadian posties like Tricia, and your very own humble Pimpin' Canuck.... to run Canadian operations from our giant igloo where we will be planning on world domination...muhahahahahaha!!!!!!

Oh there I've gone, and done it...let the cat out of the bag (smacks her typing fingers).

I'm just fooling with you, about the giant igloo, and world domination stuff...I'm not really certain what it is they have up their sleeve.

We're all just going to have to wait, and find out. All I can tell you is that news is going to be BIG, and I know it's going to mean good things are a coming for both the advertisers, and us posties. It's going to rock the world!

Watch this blog closely my peeps because I do intend to give you the scoop as soon as I find out!

And a BIG THANK YOU to Pay Per Post who have provided me with such terrific opportunities over the last few weeks since hooking up with them! You guys are the best!!!!

Cheers to the future!!!!

Media giants to take on YouTube

If you can't beat em' ... join them so to speak!

From CNN:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Media giants News Corp. and NBC Universal announced Thursday that they will create an online video site that will rival the popular YouTube.

News Corp. (Charts), which owns the Fox television and movie studios, and GE (Charts)-owned NBC Universal said their site will include online videos from the company's two film and TV libraries.

Executives from the two companies added during a conference call Thursday afternoon that the site will allow users to create their own videos as well but that the main focus will be on their copyrighted content.

"There will be user-generated videos but the emphasis here is on the premium content and we think that's the value proposition here," said NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker.

Full article here.

Last week I wrote about how Viacom is suing Youtube over copyright infringement, and seeking $1 Billion dollars in damages.

Is it any surprise that they have already released a statement of endorsement for this new online video distribution site?

Here is the Viacom statement:

"A new online video distribution platform that respects copyrights is a welcome addition to the industry. The venture supports our view that upholding the rights of content creators is the only logical and legitimate path for the creative and technology communities to come together and bring great new online experiences to consumers."

Redefining 'McJobs'

From the CBC:

CHICAGO (AP) - McDonald's Corp. is reviving its campaign to ditch the dictionary definition of "McJob," this time setting its sites on the vocabulary of Britons. The world's largest fast food company said Tuesday it plans to launch a campaign in the U.K. this spring to get the country's dictionary houses to change current references to the word "McJob."

The Oxford English Dictionary, considered by many wordsmiths as the gold standard for the English language, is one of those that will be targeted. It defines the noun as "an unstimulating, low-paid job with few prospects, esp. one created by the expansion of the service sector."

Full Article Here.

And can you blame them? Personally, I feel the term is derogatory to the people who do work there, mostly young students, and retirement aged people, and would not use it myself.

I once was at a coffee-shop with one of the kids, when a fellow and a woman in front of us, dressed to the nines in business attire, loudly voiced their displeasure with a counter staff member by stating, "What do you expect from someone who would work in a place like this? And for minimum wage?"

I looked over at the red-faced young woman, and wanted to smack them both!

What You Need To Know About Loans

This blog as you know is about consumers making smarter choices in order to save themselves time, money, and potential heartache in the future. The term so often bandied about here, "Let The Buyer Beware" is equally as apt to applying for a secured loan, or unsecured loan, as it is to buying a new dress. The more knowledge we have about any given product or service the better prepared we are to make wise choices as consumers.

Now my wise shopping students, how many of you can tell me what the difference is between a secured loan, and a unsecured loan? That's ok, I wasn't overly clear on this myself. So I checked out SelectLoans.co.uk, which is an excellent resource for this type of information. You can check them out too, by following their link.

They can give you the best information when seeking out quotes for cheap loans in a handy online format.

As I always say the difference between arming yourself with information, and making smart choices with your money, or rushing into something blindly is the difference between being a happy consumer or a miserable one in the long run.

Go see how SelectLoans.co.uk can help you make wise choices for your borrowing needs. Loans are a necessity, grief over obtaining the wrong one for you is not!

John Waters - " Til Death Do Us Part"

If you haven't heard about it before, "Til Death Do Us Part" is a grisly little TV series for Court TV about marriages that end in murder. Starring John Waters as the "Groom Reaper" it promises to be a delightful romp through the utterly dreadful such as other faves of mine Dexter, and Six Feet Under, the latter which I do miss.

In a recent CNN interview Waters had this to say to newly-weds:

"Nobody thinks on their wedding day that they are going to murder each other," he says. "But right before you get married, you should look at the person, and if there's one little thing that gets on your nerves, think about how bad it will be in 10 years."

And while he is definitely correct on this one, "Til Death Do Us Part" should make for some entertaining television viewing for those of us with a bit of a darker side.

Cheers!

Airbus A380 Arrives In The U.S.

As an aviation, and travel enthusiast I have been following the development, and launch of the Airbus A380 with much interest. I have a thing for the jumbo jet, stemming from my childhood adoration for the 747 I suppose.

Here is a snippet on the A380's arrival from CNN:

NEW YORK (AP) -- The latest jetliner to claim the title of world's biggest passenger aircraft completed its first voyage to the United States on Monday, flying on football field-length wings and a prayer that the American airline industry will want to buy the double-decker jumbo jet.

The four-engine Airbus A380 touched down at Kennedy International Airport about 12:10 p.m. EDT, to the cheers of onlookers gathered to watch the arrival. As the plane taxied, a pilot waved an American flag. Minutes later, a separate A380 arrived in Los Angeles, but it carried no passengers.

The nearly eight-hour trans-Atlantic flight was a chance for plane builder Airbus and German airline Lufthansa AG to show off the jewel of Airbus' offerings to potential American buyers and to the airports they hope to turn into flight bases for the jet. The 239-foot-long A380 can seat as many as 550 passengers, hold 81,890 gallons of fuel, cruise at 560 mph and fly some 8,000 nautical miles.

Full article here.

It certainly is a gorgeous aircraft that I would personally love to fly in, but the big question is will American's want to invest in them, and perhaps more importantly will the average American traveller want to travel in them?

I have already heard internet gossip suggesting these larger aircraft will be a mark or terrorists. That is something I personally do not buy into, but will these negative rumblings actually affect sales, and usage of the A380? Possibly, but unlikely.

What do you think? Would you be comfortable flying on one?

Cheers!

Yay! More Happy Drugs!

This is getting FRIGHTENING! According to this ABC news article scientists are developing drugs that could eliminate traumatic events from our memories. Here's a snippet:

March 20, 2007 — "I'd take it in a second," said Sgt. Michael Walcott, an Iraq War veteran, referring to an experimental drug with the potential to target and erase traumatic memories.

Now while I can sympathise with Sgt. Walcott's desire to forget, is it not that which we survive, and ultimately overcome what builds our characters? Is the old saying, "that which doesn't kill us, can only make us stronger" tired, and no longer relevant.

I don't know about you, but I think we have all faced things we would rather forget, but does that justify using some mind erasing elixir? Thoughts of the Family Guy, and Stuey's potion spring to mind.

I think of all the good that is accomplished by those who have faced trauma, and come out on the other side. Counsellors for instance that share their own life's experience in order to help others. Oh wait...no need we'll all just have our memories removed. Everybody's happy? Lobotomy in pill format.

Life can be very hard, but the answer to peace and contentment surely cannot be found in yet another mind altering drug? Can it?

Would you take it?

Sue

What's The Value Of Your Home?

I was recently checking out house values in my neighbourhood, and was astonished at least at first to find out how they have actually jumped over the last few years. Property values here are currently in the $500,000 to $700,000 range, showing an increase in the last couple of years by close to $200,000 on average. What can I say, I live in one of the most high demand areas in the city, and it shows no signs of slowing.

Are you planning on selling your home, or property? Or are you curious to find out what the real estate values are in your own neighbourhood? You can do so by using this handy online tool to obtain an up-to-date report on the value of your home. Just click on the link to try it out. It's absolutely free, and you know how I'm always saying, "free is good!"

It's easy to use, and a terrific resource for the latest in property value information. Go check it out, you might just be pleasantly surprised to find out what your own house could be fetching on today's market!

Smells Good!

I admit it, I love perfume. Did you know that our sense of smell is the strongest memory trigger of all five senses? It's true! And perhaps that is why I love perfume, not only on others, but naturally to wear myself.

My favourite perfume at the moment is Amarige D'Amour by Givenchy, as it has a just the hints of tangerine, and rose.....heavenly! I do tend to enjoy most Givenchy products though .. :)

By wearing my favourite perfumes, chosen depending on the occasion I do admit to wishing to create a very subtle memory of myself in the minds of others. And it does work! I will always, for instance, think of my father when I smell Old Spice.

What is your favourite scent or perfume? And what memories does it invoke in you?

Cheers!

Pocket Calculators In The Middle Ages?

A 14th Century scientific instrument uncovered during building work has sold at auction for £115,000 according to BBC News.

The astrolabe quadrant - dubbed the "pocket calculator" of its age - went for more than its guide price at Bonhams in London on Wednesday.

Made in England in 1388, the device was used for telling the time, mapping the stars and taking measurements.

It was found in Canterbury, Kent, in 2005, and is said to be one of only eight known examples in the world.

The brass instrument was found during excavations for an extension to a restaurant.

The site of the find is known as the House of Agnes, a 17th Century inn on the main road out of Canterbury to London.

While the auction itself is of interest, this scientific tool is intriguing in and of itself! I am always humbled by the thought of how ingenious our ancestors were, and of the advancements we have made. Is it any wonder that one of my greatest passions is history!

Get The Facts About Preconstruction Real Estate Investing

Preconstruction real estate investing can be hot, and indeed quite lucrative, however it is certainly not risk free. Smart investors need only look through the latest news to see horror stories of people getting ripped off. Investors buying into buildings that have not been built yet, hoping to capitalize on the price appreciation really need to be aware of all the potential pitfalls, and be armed with a good working knowledge on real estate investing.

I have heard several horror stories, particularly coming out of Miami, Florida, where preconstruction investing in the condo market is particularly hot at the moment. However, I really do not want to focus too much on the negative, and would rather arm you with knowledge about ways in which you can become a smart investor, so you won't lose money.

If you are interested in investment clubs, preconstruction, and real estate investments, please have a look at this e-book on the topic. Preconstruction Secrets, Overcoming The Risks Of Investing In Pre-Construction Real Estate is a valuable resource for the novice or veteran of this type of investment opportunity. It is highly informative, and a must read!

Be a smart investor, learn from the mistakes of others, and above all remember my motto, Scientia Et Potentia - Knowledge is Power!

Best wishes for your endeavours!

Naming this blog was not as easy as you might have thought...

When Sue and I sat down and came up with the idea of doing a blog about earning money online (which has since taken on this odd shape we have now of product discussions and whatnot,) we toyed with a few ideas...

Makin' Money Online

Too easy... and not surprisingly, the domain was taken.

Cash With Bandwidth

Geeks might have liked this... but they'd probably read it as CACHE with Bandwidth... and then get ticked that it wasn't about high-speed internet access through super-fast RAM...

Learning To Make Money Online

Too lengthy. Kinda clumsy...

Then we came up with it... Nothing but Pimp

Seemed like a natural... this blog is nothing but us trying to use this blog to gain interest and yes, money. (Pimp being used in the urban sense...)

...next problem...

Nothing But Pimp
Nuthin But Pimp

I kinda was originally leaning toward a more... proper... name.

Not But Pimp

...that didn't fly...

...so we decided on...

Nuttin But Pimp

We even toyed with an extra "T" after the "but"... but that was quickly discounted.

Why am I mentioning this?

Because NAMING things is rather important.

For example, did you know I really dislike One Old Green Bus which is the name of our oft mentioned Bus Blog? I mean, it DOESN'T really tell you what the blog is about now, does it?

Trying To Make A Dream Come True would be better or Help Us Get The Bus... how about the catchier Help Us Catch Our Bus with a "subtitle" of And Help Us Catch Our Dream..." Much better, eh?

There's the key... when naming anything you want people to look at, try to be catchy, fun, and SHORT!

Dave's Blog Featuring His Favourite Restaurant Reviews from Philadelphia is not good... Dave's Eats in Philly is much better. Also, naming this fictional blog Dave Munch Out would be okay... but Dave Masticates would probably be lost on most people... and since this fictional blog has a purpose, simply saying Dave's Blog probably won't have people beating a path to your door.

So, if you're starting a new blog... or anything... give the name some thought... make it something everyone will remember... and will let people get an idea of what you're going to be presenting.

Just a tidbit of advice from your friendly neighbourhood blog admins!

$38 Billion Dollar Disaster Or Oooops!

You think you're having a bad day at work? Read on.....

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) -- Perhaps you've experienced that sinking feeling when a single keystroke accidentally destroys hours of work. Now imagine wiping out a disk drive containing an account worth $38 billion.

That's what happened to a computer technician reformatting a disk drive at the Alaska Department of Revenue. While doing routine maintenance work, the technician accidentally deleted applicant information for an oil-funded account -- one of Alaska residents' biggest perks -- and mistakenly reformatted the backup drive, as well.

There was still hope, until the department discovered its third line of defense had failed: backup tapes were unreadable.

Full CNN article here.

Apparently it took 70 people working weekends, and overtime for six weeks to re-enter all the lost data , at a cost of $220,000.

Now that's an ooops!

Big News! New Big Web Directory!

The Big Web Links Directory is quickly becoming the hottest web link directory that savvy webmasters will want to get their pages listed on. This site is being heavily promoted around the internet, and it is definitely worth your while to get listed on it.

Unlike some other web listings sites, on Big Web Links Directory you have complete control via the amount of your contribution as to where exactly, and how prominently you will be listed within their pages. This means that newer websites, and blogs that have not established a higher page rank yet will not be buried somewhere at the back end of a listing. Again, making it highly worthwhile, and good linking value to get listed through the Big Web Links Directory.

Go check it out, I found the pricing very reasonable for the service being offered!

401k and Retirement Plan Services

Are you in need of 401k and Retirement Plan Services? When doing a vendor search, it is highly imperative that you, understand the advantages, and disadvantages of each service being offered. Things to consider are how will this product impact our workload, how will these services be delivered to us, and our employees, and equally as important, what are the plan expenses?

VendorSeek.com will save you time, and money when seeking out 401k and Retirement Plan Services vendors by providing you with a single, convenient, and easy to use online form in which to obtain five different quotes to compare. By receiving these quotes you are under no obligation to purchase, but you will be able to compare costs, and find the plan that works best for your needs.

Mercedes new "fish-inspired" car

When I think Mercedes-Benz I do not picture an image of a car quite like the one above. To be honest, my first reaction, and thought for a topic header for this blog entry was, "Mercedes comes up with an uglier car than the Aztec!"

However, the more I stare at it the more it has some sort of appeal in a "fishy" kinda way.

What do you all think? Would you want to be seen in a Mercedes' Bionic? Is this what all the cool kids will be driving?

More on the Mercedes' Bionic in this CNN article.

Dedicated Hosting A Necessity

Yesterday I blogged about the need for having one's own domain name, and for the absolute necessity of solid dedicated hosting for your blogs, and websites, particularly if you are running an online business.

Today, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you about DMG Dedicated Servers, as they fulfil my own criteria of what to look for when researching hosting companies for your website or blog.

My first thought was to check out their reputation, by reading through the customer testimonial page. I like to get a feel for what clients have to say about any given business. DMG has been in business for a few years now, steadily gaining a solid reputation for a highly reliable, and quality service.

My next step was to check out their customer service, which appears to be excellent! As a consumer I want to know that my needs are a company's first priority, and DMG Dedicated Servers not only provides email support, but a toll-free number as well. Easy to get a hold of with friendly, and knowledgeable staff means client support is very important to them! I like that.

Finally, am I getting good value for my money? DMG Dedicated Servers provides high quality service, for excellent rates!

Overall, I would say that if you are looking for dedicated hosting from a company that offers high quality service, along with excellent customer care than DMG Dedicated Servers should be top on your list to check out.

Cheers!

Alaska town is giving away land

You know how I'm ALWAYS saying, "free is good"...well I'm not so certain about this offer ...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anderson, a little town in Alaska's interior, has no gas station, no grocery store and no traffic lights, but it does have plenty of woodsy land — and it's free to anyone willing to put down roots in the often-frozen ground.

In a modern twist on the homesteading movement that populated the Plains in the 1800s, the community of 300 people is offering 26 large lots on spruce-covered land in a part of Alaska that has spectacular views of the Northern lights and Mount McKinley, North America's highest peak.

And what's an occasional day of 60-below cold in a town removed from big-city ills?

"It's Mayberry," said Anderson high-school teacher Daryl Frisbie, whose social studies class explored ways to boost the town's dwindling population. Students developed a Web site and Power Point presentation, then persuaded the City Council to give it a go.

"Are you tired of the hustle and bustle of the Lower 48, crime, poor schools, and the high cost of living?" the Web site asks. "Make your new home in the Last Frontier!"

Full article here.

Something about the "frozen Mayberry" is, well, less than appealing to this urbanite. But hey, if it's for you, you can check out their official website that does give details on the lots available.

It does look rather pretty with the mountains, and all. And there is a big national park close by. Still it's some place I'd rather visit, as opposed to living there. Good lucks, Anderson Alaska!

The Buzz On Diamonds

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, heck they are everybody's best friend, and you KNOW I love bling bling!

I was impressed by my visit to this site and would personally use it to make a diamond purchase online. If you are looking to purchase a diamond do yourself a favour, and check out BrilliantDiamonds.com as a one-stop quality diamond online resource.

Another Good Reason To Set Up Your Own Domain & Hosting

According to this CBC article posted Friday:

"Google's popular, free weblog hosting service Blogger.com appears to have been infiltrated by a spam e-mail ring that is setting up fake blogs, according to a security company."

If this were not bad enough the article goes on to state:

"The company also discovered that apparently legitimate blogs had been infected with malicious code, pointing to what appears to be a motorcycle fan site as an example. The site, seemingly created by a Honda CR450 enthusiast, now infects visitors with the Wonka Trojan," Fortinet said. Fortinet have given the threat its fourth-highest severity ranking on a five-point scale. The company also warned about other popular subjects that are likely to be linked to maliciously crafted or infected blogs. Other popular topics commonly linked to malicious blog sites include Star Wars, school, furniture, Christmas, cars and girlfriend," Fortinet said."

full article here.

I have tried to find a comment from Google on this issue as the article does not mention one, or one was not issued at the time of writing, but I know that if I were using Blogger.com right now I would be highly concerned about this.

Many moons ago I used to have an old Geocities website, but quickly abandoned it in favour of my own domains, which I own several and my own hosting company. Currently our hosting company provides space for all 5 blogs, plus a few of our friends, and approximately 15 rather extensive websites (sorry I've lost count as I do not maintain all of them) this costs us $15.99 per month US, plus a yearly domain renewal of about $10.00 each US. Well worth every dime!

Just thought I'd give you guys something to think about.....comments always welcome!

Chemical Dependency Among Youth

According to a recent and damning UNICEF report, children in the richest nations on earth, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America are more likely to be suffering with a chemical addiction than anywhere else on the planet. What does that say about our values as a society, that so many of our youth are chemically addicted, and suffering all the issues that are associated with it?

Thankfully there are places where families can turn for help in order to break the often vicious cycle of addiction. One such adolescent treatment program is ECHO MALIBU, one of the leading sites in providing professional care for troubled teens.

ECHO MALIBU's philosophy for treatment embraces both education, and empowerment, both in my opinion crucial to winning any battle. These will lead to an individual or family to make healthier lifestyle choices, and break away from the bonds of addiction.

If your own child or someone you know is in trouble, or if you are a teen who has happened to surf through this blog, and are living with an addiction please do check out the ECHO MALIBU website. There is never any shame in seeking help, and NO ONE should or must live alone with these types of problems.

ECHO MALIBU's F.A.Q provides detailed information on everything you need to know about starting down the road to recovery. Please do check them out. Help is only a click away.

Best Wishes,

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

And what could be a more appropriate way of spending St. Paddy's Day than with the wee commercial spokesman for Lucky Charms the "magically delicious" cereal. Yep, that's right, Lucky Leprechaun!

Now there's a spokesman for ya! Nothing angry or drunken about this little fella! Something that appears to be the norm with Leprechaun's these days.

Granted he does seem really hopped up on that breakfast cereal! Made me want to try it as a kid .... ;)

Big Money! Big Money! Big Money!

Remember how excited I was on Monday to tell you that I was accepted into the Pay-Per-Post program? Well here is an update on how I've done, and what I've found out with this hot opportunity for making money through our blogs.

First the news I'm certain you are most curious about, "How much did you make?"

The answer is that within 5 days of becoming a postie for Pay-Per-Post I have made a total of $121.45 US! Not bad scratch if I do say so myself .. eh! In all honesty this actually far exceeded my expectations, and I am very pleasantly surprised!

If you have not already joined Pay-Per-Post I absolutely recommended that you do! They do have some criteria that must be met first, so be sure to check that out on their main page.

I'm telling you they've set up their site to be so easy and fun to use that I've been having a blast with this!

Anyway getting back to the moula, my youngest is not really a spoiled kid, for the most part the only time we really go out of our way to try and spoil with prezzies is Christmas or her birthday, both a long way off. This year she has been working very hard on her school work, and her last report card was phenomenal, something to really make a parent proud! Her teacher has already hinted to me that this one coming up after Spring Break will be even better. So I've decided I'm going to use my Pay_per-Post money from the last week and spoil her with it!

Shhhhhh!!!!!

I have always enjoyed the feeling of treating someone else, and as a Mom that feeling doubles when you are treating your child, and you know that they deserve it or have earned it!

Thank you Pay-Per-Post, not only have you put a smile on my face, but you are going to make a little girl very happy ... :)

Cheers!

Meet Your Hostess

Over the past couple of months our hits on Nuttin' But Pimp have tripled, our Google Page Rank has jumped, and our Alexa rating has dropped like a stone. All good things that mean traffic to this blog is really taking off, something I would like to thank all of my regular readers, and new ones for as well.

This has also given me pause to consider that a lot of people who surf through here might not know who is the writer behind this blog. Therefore I thought I'd put together a little bio for those who are interested, and give it a dedicated link to my sidebar.

Firstly, Hi I'm Sue! .. :)

It never ceases to amaze how surprised certain people are to find out I'm a woman. Ha!

So why Nuttin' But Pimp you may ask? A few reasons, I love to blog! I also love to bargain shop, and consider myself a savvy consumer. This blog also gives me a venue to chronicle my successes and failures in trying to earn a part-time income online, which will hopefully help many of you along the way who share similar goals. And finally I aim to be the Perez Hilton of hot products, services, juicy gossip from the world of business, and other fun tidbits! Who knows, maybe I'll write a book about it eventually! Most importantly though I'm having FUN!!!

On a professional note:

I've spent many years within the print, graphics and communications industry.

I'm a published author having co-authored a course book through PSICAN the volunteer research organization I co-founded. I am the webmaster of ParaResearchers Of Ontario and also contribute to several other websites related to the paranormal.

I have contributed as technical consultant on various media projects and have been a regular guest on CFRB's Mind/Shift. My public speaking engagements include Skeptics Canada, Ontario Institute For Studies & Education, and the University of Toronto.

Other blogs I maintain or regularly contribute to include:

One Old Green Bus (Hubby's blog and our family's project)

The Paranormal Blog (self-explanatory)

Life in the Urban Zoo (our family life)

Pastyme with Good Companye (my passion for history)

On a more personal note:

I am in a long term, committed, and very happy relationship! Love is definitely better the second time around. I am a mother to one adult, one teen, and one pre-teen, and human Mommy to two dogs, three cats, two birds, one bunny rabbit, and two dwarf hamsters! Now you know why I call it "The Zoo."

In my few spare moments, I enjoy historical study, reading, and hunting for bargains either online, or at yard and garage sales of course!

So there is the scoop, including mug shot above! If you would like to contact me by email you may do so via sue at psican.org or leave me a comment on the blog!

Nice to meet you! ... :)

Fabulous Discount Cruises

I have never taken a cruise vacation yet, the operative word being "yet" because it is something that I would like to do in the not too distant. Price will definitely be a factor for us, so when the time comes I will be shopping around for a discount cruise vacation package.

If you are in the same position we are, or just like to save money (who doesn't?) then you might want to check out Direct Line Cruises for the fabulous discounts they can offer you on cruises to the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. You can even book an Alaska cruise through them, something my former co-worker did last year, and had a fantastic time. I was actually surprised at the numerous and varied destination listings they have!

I checked out their website and it is very easy to use as it is well laid out, making vacation planning easy.

Also offered through the Direct Line Cruises website is travel insurance at no extra cost, something every savvy traveller must have. I won't travel without it.

Overall this company appears to have extensive knowledge on cruise vacations, strong customer support, the ability to offer excellent savings, and books for well-known and trusted cruise ship lines like Norwegian, Royal Caribbean & Celebrity Cruise Lines definitely worth checking out for your vacation needs.

Happy Cruising!

BAM! - Bloggers Against Music

Remember my rant last week entitled "Blog Surfing Turn-Offs?"

Basically I was really upset by having my computer crash more than once during a single surf session by automatic music playing on certain blogs that created conflicts with other programs I was running, such as listening to my own music that I want to hear!

Yesterday, I surfed onto BAM! - Bloggers Against Music which was started by a fellow ex-pat Canadian, and it was like music to my ears! I knew I was not alone with this, but what a terrific idea! So naturally I joined!

If you feel as strongly about automatic music being forced upon surfers do check out the link above and consider joining.

Award Winning Home Insurance Provider

As you know I love to bring you, my readers, the scoop on hot products and services that will provide you and I with good value for our hard earned money. Today, I'd like to talk a bit about something we all must have, Home Insurance.

I was looking through the ASDA Home Insurance website a little earlier, and here is what I found out about them.

Firstly they are the award winners for "Best Overall Home and Contents Insurance Provider" from the experts at "Your Money" magazine. This of course immediately grabbed my attention, and is an excellent kudo towards this company.

Their website provides a lot of detailed information through their F.A.Q, and articles on topics such as Home Insurance Benefits, What you're covered for, (very important to know) and What to expect when making a claim, there is much more, but you get the idea. Knowledge is power, and I personally appreciate any company that will spell out the facts of what you are getting into.

ASDA is offering highly competitive rates, and a 15% savings for signing up online.

Overall with their easy to use website, proven track record of excellent customer support care, and their ability to save you money, I will definitely recommend at least getting a quote from them.

ASDA also provides quotes on car insurance.

Cheers!

The Toronto Humane Society

Blogging earlier today about Bowzer Biz got me thinking about all the wonderful dogs and puppies up for adoption at the Toronto Humane Society.

It's almost Spring again, and that means our city's animal shelters will be filling up with unwanted or otherwise homeless pets. This year in Toronto the beginning of winter was unseasonably mild, which means places like the Toronto Humane Society are brimming with cats, and kittens, dogs and puppies.

Our own three princesses Annie, Mary, and Elizabeth were all adopted through the Toronto Humane Society, and I cannot express adequately in words the happiness they have brought into our lives.

Shelters cats and dogs are awesome animals, and most already come either spayed or neutered, and all are up-to-date on their vaccinations.

Click on the logo above or one of the links, and check out some of the really cool felines, canines, and other critters too that are up for adoption!

And no, I am not associated with this shelter in anyway other than being truly grateful to them for our own Princesses, and believing wholeheartedly in what they are doing.

Cheers!

What's In A Name Change?

The hot business buzz of today is how Cingular is becoming AT&T again, they were initially AT&T and are now going back. Sometimes these types of changes can hurt business at least initially because the consumer is used to the name brand recognition, in this case already identifying the name Cingular with certain products and services. They may not readily realise that At&T will bring them exactly what they already want and expect from Cingular.

On a personal level the name change really does nothing to alter or change my views on Cingular, whether they are AT&T or something else does not really concern me at all, and it shouldn't affect you either. As smart consumers it is the products and services themselves that count, not how they are packaged and nor what they are called, right?!

With that said I'd like to bring your attention to one of their hottest new products, AT&T Apple iphone.

Sweet eh!

The AT&T Apple iphone brings the consumer the latest, and the hottest in cell phone technology, a must have item! Features on this phone include, a touch-screen interface, which will rotate from portrait to landscape depending on how it's held. How cool is that! Do you want the capability of music, audiobooks, videos, TV shows, and movies? If so, this phone has got it! Oh, and did I mention in the list it comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera/camcorder! The list of really cool and innovative features included with this phone are just too numerous to mention I could go on and on....

And it looks good to boot!

Green Death

"Even death offers no escape from the global warming debate. But as with most things these days, there are eco-friendly alternatives. Woodland burials and wicker coffins are the among the greenest ways to a carbon neutral end," according to this BBC report.

The New Blackberry 8800

Have you heard about the new Blackberry 8800 yet? This mobile phone is hot!!! I was reading up on this newest BlackBerry, and I've got to admit I'm sold!

The most interesting new feature to me is the ability to send maps! That's right the Blackberry 8800 has a built-in GPS system, how cool is that! Matthew can tell you my fascination, and total reliance on maps, so this feature would be of absolute interest to me personally. No need to ever get lost, and the ability to send maps via the Blackberry to your colleagues, associates, friends and clients showing them the exact route they need to take to get to any destination.

Of course it comes with other cool features too, such as Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), no need to fuss with small buttons, noise cancellation, which I appreciate with my hearing capabilities, and all sorts of other cool software applications. You can read further up on these on the Your Wireless Source blog. They've got a full article on it.

And it's slim!!!

I'm really impressed with this one! Trust me, this one's hot!

Viacom Sues YouTube - Seeking A Billion Dollars In Damages

That's right, a Billion dollars in damages for massive copyright infringement! Wow!

"Viacom claims that YouTube has displayed nearly 160,000 unauthorized video clips from its cable networks, which also include Comedy Central, VH1 and Nickelodeon."

Full story on Business Week here.

Naturally this has caused parent Google's shares to drop, and in all honesty I think the Viacom suit will be the tip of the iceberg! I'm sure their will be hundreds of other suits to follow.

I know most bloggers love YouTube, but to be frank I have been predicting this was going to happen since I first happened upon the YouTube site.

We'll see what is going to happen, but personally I do think that this will mark the beginning of the end of YouTube, and that Viacom will win.

The Kid Is Learning How To Drive

The 17 year old is learning how to drive, she just started taking driving lessons last week. I would be lying if I did not tell you that this scares the heck out of me! Not that she is a bad or irresponsible kid, in fact if anything she is the exact opposite. It's those other people that she will be sharing the road with, you know the one's I'm talking about, that unnerve me.

Vat 19 are the creators of a new Rules of the Road Driver's Ed DVD that sounds like it would be a perfect gift for the kid. Not only for her own knowledge, but for an extra bit of peace of mind for myself as well.

This DVD covers all the basics, from city to country driving, highways, safety tips, basic maintenance, and what to do in case of emergencies. They also include a section on the dangers of driving while impaired. You can check out a video clip on the Vat 19 site.

Again, I think a DVD like this would be worthwhile for any new driver, and heck how about us older ones that could use a refresher!

Oh yes, and while I'm on the subject of Driver Education I'd like to mention that Vat 19 also offers an emergency auto kit, that is full of goodies. It includes jumper cables, first aid kit, poncho, flash light, basic tools, and other stuff, it's 63 pieces in total. Go check it out! Just click on the link.

I think the emergency kit would be a wise and thoughtful companion gift to the Rules of the Road Driver's Ed DVD.

I'm still nervous about the kid driving, I guess that's natural for any parent to go through, especially when she tells me about all the cool road trips her and her buddies plan on taking after they get their licences. Yikes! I miss the days when she really wanted a pony ... ;)

Anti-Smoking Ads A Failure????

I was reading an article on the BBC website today that states, "One in 10 people keep their smoking habits from loved ones, doctors or employers." You can read the full article here.

This to me is a strong indicator that the marketing ads aimed at getting people to quit are perhaps just forcing people underground. I mean lets face it, smokers, smoke for various reasons, and everyone knows that it is in fact a danger to one's health, yet they continue to do it.

Perhaps instead of forcing tobacco companies to print pictures of diseased lungs on their packs, and spending tax dollars on anti-smoking campaigns it's time that governments just ban the nasty stuff all together. Ahhh...but then we'll just end up with "Smoke-Easys" .. ;)

And yes, I am a smoker, who is always in various stages of quitting.

Pay Per Post Is Fabulous!

Alrighty are you seeing a trend on this blog today gentle readers? Why am I feeling so "Fabulous" despite my headache, and aside from hosting Mr. Fabulous himself all this week you ask?

My mood is light because I joined the hottest blog marketing program on the net! That's right if you want to make the big money you have got to check out Pay Per Post! For one single post you could make as high a $1000.00 US bux, depending on the popularity of your blog. Now if that isn't incentive enough to join Pay Per Post and work on boosting your own blog traffic I don't know what is?!

I'm still working very hard to boost my own Google page rank and get my Alexa rank smokin' and I am very proud of my efforts to date, but in just one single day I have earned $30.50 US right here with this blog, through Pay Per Post. Outstanding! So you see you do not necessarily have to be a higher ranking blog for a good pay-out. Pay Per Post provides terrific opportunities whether you are a higher or lower trafficked blog!

Pay Per Post only charges a 35% service fee much lower than some of the other programs out there meaning greater earnings and far more money making opportunities for bloggers like us!

And another thing that I really appreciate about Pay Per Post is their strict disclosure policy. You must disclose when you are posting a topic through them. To me that indicates a helluva a lot of integrity!

So what are you waiting for come join me in earning some excellent money by blogging about the things you love, and believe me there is plenty to choose from!

I told ya I had a feeling this was going to be a "FABULOUS" week!!!!

Suffering A Headache Today.....

....and headaches suck!!! I think today's is a combination lack of sleep due to the early time change, and some tension from the job hunt I've been telling you guys and ladies about.

I was just checking out a website that gives detailed information on headaches, their causes, and treatments offered through chiropractic medicine as well as other services.

The New York Sports Medicine site not only provides info on headaches, it also gives information on a host of other issues, such as lower back pain, and neck pain something I also suffer with on occasion.

I like to stay informed as much as possible, especially on issues that are in regards to my own or my family's health.

It's good to know that there are online resources for places that can help us cope through effective pain management techniques, and what our treatment options are.

There Are Publicity Stunts And Then There Is This.........

The Earth shall know it's evil that starts with the ears of mice,
As it comes from the park at which trailers are kept;
The final anti Christ will be upon us,
A junky pop-singer in rehab with no hair.

- Nostradamus Quatrains - Century XI

You know when it comes to most celebrity weirdness I'm rather cynical. I usually write their antics off to publicity stunts, and the occasional clever marketing scheme.

Even with the shaving of the head stunt I was not convinced, but after reading this article all I can say is Britney is NUTS!!!!

BRITNEY Spears has flipped her lid in rehab, trying to hang herself with a bedsheet after screaming "I am the anti-christ" to frightened staff."

She made the demonic cry after scrawling the devil's number "666" across her head.

Time To Spring Forward!

Yep, for all of us living in the Eastern Standard Time Zone the time to spring forward, and set our clocks one hour ahead is this weekend. A whole month early!!! Apparently the "powers-that-be" think that making the switch now will aid in energy conservation. I have no idea why, but hey if it works it works!

I hate the spring forward time change, much preferring the Fall's extra hour to sleep in, however I do have a trick that works for us.

Since we are now officially on "Sue's time" aka the start of the weekend I will go about setting the clocks ahead tonight. This gives us all a chance to adjust over the entire weekend, and avoid the inevitably bagged out feeling of a Monday morning after the time officially goes forward.

It does work ... and you might want to give it a try!

Victor Lysakov Makes His Smashing American Debut!

Taking North American art lovers by storm Russian Artist Victor Lysakov made a smashing American debut last month. Lysakov Art Company, Inc. opened on February 2, 2007 amidst traditional Russian fare, including music and food, and hosted over 200 V.I.P guests from around the United States. The highlight of course was Victor Lysakov modern expressionistic artwork!

He is already very well known and considered one of Europe's Best Artists, participating in prestigious exhibitions and auctions in Russia, and several European countries. And it is easy to see why! His modern expressionist paintings, are beautiful, bold, and quite unique to behold. Victor has already established an online presence and you may view examples of his outstanding artwork on the Lysakov Art Company website by clicking here. I'm certain you'll agree that they are stunning, and each piece tells the viewer a story giving us a perspective and further insight into the artist's view.

Art collectors will be delighted to know that a limited number Victor Lysakov's artwork is now available for sale. Prints are replicated in giclée format, which are of the highest quality, and are considered the next best thing to owning an original piece. They are printed on museum-quality canvas, and are UV-resistant. Further information on purchasing is available through the artist's website.

Again, I think you'll agree with me that Russian Artist Victor Lysakov's artwork is simply gorgeous!

Job Hunting Sucks

Job hunting has always sucked...but it's worse in this online age. You can add your resume to Workopolis or Monster or as I call them Monstropolis, and be one of a million. You can search the online ads and email to your hearts content again to be one of hundreds usually deleted or tossed in the rubbish bin. I know I was at one time on the other side of things. If the resume does not have the right keywords at a glance (usually micro seconds) it's tossed in the heap with the other 1,000 applying.

I miss the days of newspaper ads that actually gave an address or phone number, not to mention companies that would welcome your walking in and inquiring about any openings they might have.

Now I surf the net looking at want ads, and am able to apply to hundreds of jobs in a couple of hours.

So why do I feel like I'm not accomplishing anything?????

It's Friday ... I'll try not to worry about it for the next 48 hours.

Rodeo Drive Breast Augmentation

Generally speaking women consider breast augmentation for various reasons, sometimes for enlargement, others or enhancement of shape, and still other women desire a reconstructive procedure. I have never been one to judge anyone for wishing to have plastic surgery done, including breast augmentation. I have had several female friends who over the years have chosen to have this procedure done for either one or a combination of the reasons listed above. I have also known three people who have had reductions done due to health reasons.

With anything in life I believe that knowledge is power and consumers must inform themselves of all their choices, and be armed with as much information as possible, particularly when it concerns their bodies, their self-image, and their health.

The Rodeo Drive Breast Augmentation center is located in Los Angeles California, and they have a website that gives very detailed information on this procedure. Listed on the site is everything you need to know about what is involved, what techniques are available, and what you may expect from having this procedure done. They also outline the history of breast augmentation, and the differences between silicone and saline implants.

And did you know that this is not exclusively for women? Men can suffer a condition called gynecomastia where certain males can develop excess skin or breast tissue on their chests. This too can be treated by the plastic surgeons at the Rodeo Drive center. Further information may be obtained by clicking here.

What To Do If Your Employer Did Not Give You A T4 Slip

I recently had to consider what would happen if I did not get my T4 slip from my previous employer? Here in Canada you need a T4 slip which states your earnings, taxes paid, and other deductions in order to file your income tax claim.

Employers in Canada by law must issue T4 slips by the end of February. Well here we are into the first week of March and still no T4 in the mail. So, today I called my old employers who thankfully I am still on very good terms with, and they told me mine had been mailed, unfortunately with a truncated address. They are reissuing one today with the full postal address, and I'll hopefully have it by next Monday or Tuesday.

The best thing to do if you are in need of a T4 slip to file your taxes is to contact your previous employers. If you can't for whatever reason you can call the CCRA at the end of March or go to your local Revenue Canada office with 2 pieces of ID and they should be able to print one up for you.

Consider this Sue's Tax Tip ... :)

Breathe Easy....

Yes, that is the famous, and ultra glamorous Rodeo Dr. that you see above.

Today, I will be featuring Beverly Hills rhinoplasty, and telling you a little bit about them. Rodeo Drive Rhinoplasty is located in Los Angeles California, on one of the most well known street in the world. Rodeo Drive is associated with glamour, style, and fashion, and therefore as the only plastic surgery centre located there, they too are elegant and posh. The offices are beautiful!

Not everyone seeks out rhinoplasty because they wish to alter their appearance, some people including one person (who shall remain nameless because they are family and I do not know how they'd feel about me blogging about them)that I know had this procedure done because they were having breathing difficulties.

If you are looking into having this procedure done for yourself, whether or not you have breathing problems or you are interested in having cosmetic work done, such as slimming or having a bump removed from your nose than I do highly recommend that you check out this website.

The site is jammed packed with information on surgical techniques, what to expect, and includes a photo gallery of images for you to take a look at.

This centre has also received quite a bit of positive press coverage lately from such diverse media as Access Hollywood, Inside Edition, The Los Angeles Times, Univision, Fortune Magazine, and Star Magazine. You can read all about it through their website.

I know that if I was considering rhinoplasty I would be definitely want to have the procedure done with this centre.

Cheers!

Smoking Hookahs

What is a hookah you ask? To be honest I had no clue until I surfed over to this website. I know I'm old, and I thought I had seen everything, but this was a first for me, and I am a smoker of cigarettes (although desperately trying to quit). Yes, I know how bad, it is for you!

Anyway getting back to hookahs if you are like me, then I'll give you a brief explanation of what exactly it is they are. Hookah's are a type of pipe, and rather exotic looking, that people smoke hookah tobacco through. What the difference is between hookah tobacco or cigarette tobacco, cigars, whatever, I really cannot say? for all I know it's all the same.

The website all provides Hookah Charcoal which again I assume is part of the Hookah smoking experience.

If you've never seen one before (and I haven't) surf on over to this site using any of the links provided in this entry.

They are offering all sorts of deals including a free hookah, and other discounts, but you must be of an age of majority to purchase from them, and they do have a questionnaire to fill out so that they can verify your age.

Cutting Edge Laser Therapy

Harrington Chiropractic, PC and Laser Therapy Center is located in the state of Iowa, and utilizes state-of-the-art, cutting edge laser technology to help patients who are suffering chronic pain, and other conditions. Their facilities are beautiful, and they offer the best of care while providing the comforts offered with a small-town feel something that is often missing in large urban centres such as where I live.

Laser therapy is still fairly new to North Americans, but has been used in Europe for more than thirty years to safely and effectively help people, who are living with arthritis, tendinopathies, fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel, etc. Dr Phil Harrington is a pioneer in laser therapy techniques using a Class IV Therapeutic Laser, the first in the state!

The benefits to patients who receive laser therapy are well-documented in numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers. The Harrington Chiropractic, PC and Laser Therapy Center also has a terrific online presence, and with their website you will gain a lot of information through their FAQ's provided for both prospective patients, and for other medical professionals, and health care providers.

If you are a doctor and are interested in adding a K-Laser Class IV Therapeutic Laser to your own practice than you may contact Dr Phil Harrington directly. Contact information is provided through the website.

State Of The Pimp Address

I started this blog back in November 2006 to see if it was possible to earn a part-time income online. It's been awhile since I updated you all on how I've been doing, so here's the scoop:

Mylot - This month $15.86 US, but I have not spent as much time as I usually do because of other commitments. In total I am now over the $80.00 US mark.

Blogsvertise - $40.00 US

Loud Launch - $88.00 US and I was just approved a week ago!!!!! They are still fairly new, and are working on an affiliate program for bloggers, but as you can see they rock!!!

Still awaiting word from Pay-Per-Post.....

So, in answer to my own question with a grand total of $143.56 US and we are just beginning the month, absolutely a part-time income is achievable if you are willing to put time and effort into it.

I'll update you all again, closer to the end of March.

I want to say a special thanks to Matthew and Shawn, who have similar goals and have been a big help with tips, suggestions, and support since the beginning of my quest. Thanks so much guys!

Also if any of you readers have ideas, referrals, etc to good paying opportunities, please leave me a comment, I'd love to hear from you!

And finally on a side note, go check out my renter The Crikey Files. They are giving away free Blog Explosion credits!!!! How cool is that!

Who is D.C. Douglas?

D.C Douglas is the voice of the current national GEICO ad campaign....now you all know who I'm talking about! These GEICO commercials are so hot that they are constantly being downloaded on YouTube, in fact I've seen a few of them on blogs that post video clips. Well that's him...D.C. Douglas, and this gig is definitely making him into a star in his own right!

Douglas' official website is My Voice Over Guy where you can check out some of his work, listen to demos, etc. No nude photos, but hey, this dude has actually got real talent so he doesn't need to resort to that sort of thing!

Aside from D.C. Douglas' voice over work he is also a skilled actor, and will be seen in four films coming out this year. In "Deadwater" he'll be playing opposite another favourite of mine Lance Henriksen. You can check out more of his TV and film credits on this website.

With the GEICO ad campaign eventually going on hiatus, D.C. is already working on another project doing voice overs for a national campaign that will debut shortly.

We wish D.C. all the best with his endeavours, he's definitely a rising star, and one to watch!

Twenty Five Million Prize!

That's right, twenty-five million to the first continent-and-ocean-crossing passenger-airline, fully pollution free in the air and on the ground, before 2021. Cool eh!

The prize of course is second to the environmental benefits that this planet, mother earth, that we call the third rock from the sun would receive if the above goal is to be reached.

As a parent one of the things that concerns me, and should you as well even if you have no children is air pollution. this is why I strongly support initiatives such as this one. Whether it be by consumer pressure or the prize, it is high time that the airline industry get a reality check and start concerning themselves less with profits and more with newer technologies, and environmental controls. Polluting are upper atmosphere is no longer acceptable if it ever was, it's not like we can magically fix or filter the stratosphere of pollutants.

If the airline industry and it's suppliers got their acts together our air simply put would be much cleaner. While they certainly aren't the only offenders, it is up to each of us,including big business to do our part in seeking out less harmful to the environment solutions.

For further info check out this website.

Polarized Sunglasses - Hot Fashion Item

Polarized Sunglasses are definitely a hot fashion item, particularly if you have an active lifestyle and participate in different outdoor sports. However, they are an absolute must for vision care as well.

When my mother had her laser eye surgery last year to remove cataracts, she was told by her physician to invest in a good pair of polarized sunglasses, and since then she always wears them while doing her gardening or otherwise puttering around outside of the house. And she absolutely loves them!

These sunglasses greatly reduce the glare of sunlight on snow, water, and roadways, and as a migraine sufferer that would greatly benefit me personally. On bright sunny days just a momentary flash of light or glare can and will set off my headaches, so good sunglasses are mandatory in my own wardrobe.

If you concerned about maintaining good vision health, and at the same time want to look great, check out the ADS Sports Eyewear website. They have a lot of terrific information on polarized sunglasses, in a well designed easy to navigate site. They also offer a good selection of sunglasses to choose from and secure online shopping!

You'll love the look of these hot fashion items, and at the same time be doing something good for your eyes!

Enjoy!

Car Key Safety

We've had a bit of an automotive theme this past weekend, so I thought I'd continue with this advice that Jackie Sue emailed me.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around .... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.

This is something that should really be shared with everyone.
Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

The Female Car Buying Experience

Automotive Advice For Women by Women now how cool is that!

Okay I admit it, I am a woman that knows very little about cars, and for the most part is not really all that interested in them. Yeah, I know typical, so sue me ... ;)

However, the day will come when I will want to purchase a car, and as with any product or service as a consumer I want to be educated and informed before I make any major commitments or purchases.

So where can I turn for good information on the car buying process, or any woman who is a newbie car buyer or has had bad experiences with creepy car salesmen or dealerships?

I've already got an answer to the above question.

Go to The Ask Patty.com website!

There is some terrific information on everything you as a female consumer need to know about making car purchases, car care & maintenance, and other automotive related topics. And the best part is that the site is run by other women who are considered experts in the automotive field.

You can send in any questions you might have by either email or through their interactive blog and will normally receive an answer with advice the very same day as submission. Now that is cool!

SHARE SOME BIKE LOVE!!

You know how much I love telling you all about really cool websites, well here is another! Check out the 1st sport bike social networking site on the world wide web! If you love motorcycles, in particular sport bikes than this online networking site is a must. Trust me you will want to join in and bookmark it.

Cycleheadab.com is hot!!!! It's filled with videos, photos, sites, and sounds all geared towards the biking community. There are online forums where people can meet and share their enthusiasm for all things motorcycle related.

Not only does this website scream passion, it also promotes safety in riding, and racing sport bikes, something that I personally appreciate as I am a safety nut.

There are also forums to discuss purchasing, owning, collecting, and customising these machines.

Go check them out, even if your just curious about sport bikes or are considering getting involved with riding them this site offers something for the newbies as well as the hardcore enthusiasts!

And The Dumbest Marketing Scheme Award Goes To......

Cadbury sorry over graves stunt

Cadbury Schweppes has apologised to the authorities in the US city of Boston after a marketing stunt closed an historic cemetery.

Full BBC Article Here.

For those of you readers who also follow our Paranormal Blog you know that the one thing that irks us more than anything else are idiots who hang about cemeteries summoning up the spirits or whatever it is they think they are doing.

In an apparently equally brain dead move someone over at Cadbury Schweppes and/or the agency they hired to come up with this, thought it would be a good idea to run a contest in which participants would dig through a cemetery looking for a hidden coin.

The firm said burying the coin there had been "poor judgement".

How about extremely poor taste as well.....

A Review - Susan Nattrass

Today I'm going to blog a bit about Susan Nattrass an attorney in the US who also has a blog of her own that I've recently surfed through. Lately I've been doing a lot of reading on female lawyers as the middle daughter now in her last year of high school is determined to get her law degree, something that is going to be expensive (I'll probably start another blog on that alone - the trial and tribulations of putting your kid through law school), but I digress.....

As I read through Susan Nattrass' blog I've realised she would actually make a wonderful role model for my daughter. Not only is Susan Nattrass a successful attorney, she also ran a highly successful spa as owner of spaViolet. After two years Susan has decided to move on.

One of the things that really impressed me with her website is that it is not filled with legal jargon or legalise so to speak. It is nice to be able to read up on some of the business related topics presented through various articles such Estate Planning Off-the-Shelf, Asset Protection Planning, and To Employ or Contract, to name a few, and actually understand them as a layperson!

Another article that caught my eye on Susan's site was in regards to the importance of networking. This is something that a lot of people have difficulties with, including myself on occasion. I smiled when she admitted that networking makes her sweat too! However, it is, as stressed in her article, an absolute must in building a successful referral based business.

All in all Susan Nattrass has set up a very informative site, and I do recommend you check it out.

The Super Tibetan Fruit - Goji Berries

So what is the big deal with Goji Berries, the so-called Tibetan super fruit? I've heard a lot of terrific things about the health benefits of Goji Berries also known by the fancy name Lycium Eleagnus Barbarum, and thought I would do a little investigation into them. The following is what I found out.

The Goji Berry has been known since ancient time throughout Asia for it's immune boosting properties. This is because the humble Goji Berry is loaded with antioxidants, which are known to assist the human immune system. Through testing done by ORAC labs we know that the Goji Berry contains more antioxidants than other comparable food sources.

From a healthy food source stance Goji Berries are very rich in amino acids, iron, beta carotene, vitamin C, and other minerals. Pretty much everything that nutritionists and doctors tell us we need to maintain healthy bodies. So an all around good preventative medicine.

Goji Berries naturally boost our energy as well, and I was reading that they have been incorporated into safe, and healthy weight loss programs, with really good results.

More and more Westerners are starting to wake up, and realise that we must change our eating habits. For instance, instead of reaching for a chocolate bar, or potato chips, or other empty nutritional value snack, why not reach out for something good for you like Goji Berries that will in turn feed your body the nutrients in desperately craves while at the same time making you a healthier person.

I have tried out Goji Berries before, and not only are they tasty, but you can incorporate into all sorts of recipes like muffins, and even salads.

Evan Darling Featured On Gaywheels.com

Photo of race car driver Evan Darling courtesy Gaywheels.com

The headline screams, "Gay Race Car Driver on Gaywheels.com"

What you'll find is an interesting interview with a race car driver who just happens to be openly gay. It is quite refreshing in many ways to see the dominate, overly macho stereotype of the male race car driver myth blown away with articles such as these. Yet Gaywheels.com is the only one of it's kind on the world wide web.

Gaywheels.com is a website that targets the gay automotive consumer and enthusiast. It offers articles and reviews that are of interest and pertinent to the GLBT car purchaser.

Aside from the interview with Evan Darling, other recent articles include, Top 10 Researched Vehicles on Gaywheels.com, Gay Car Clubs, and the fun Cars, Stars and Fashion - GM Does Hollywood!

The well laid out site also contains links to free quotes, information on vehicle insurance, and vehicle financing. They also have a listing of gay-friendly companies.

I think one of the coolest things about the Gaywheels.com website is that despite the fact it is geared towards the GBLT community, anyone can really benefit from the well thought-out, and written information that is to be found there. I know that I certainly learned a few things about the automotive industry that I had not known before. If you are in the market to buy a new car or are a car enthusiast in general go check out this one of a kind website. You won't be disappointed!

Enjoy!

If your blog...

Forces me to watch videos or listen to music....

Has automatic slide-shows.....

Is filled with all sorts of widgets....

Talks at me .... and that's just creepy...

Contains numerous pop-ups, pop-unders...whatever...

And if ANY or ALL of the above crashes my browser and/or PC....

...no matter how good your writing or overall content is, I can guarantee you I will not be visiting your blog again...and there ain't no pimp in that!

Wholesale Sunglasses Business Opportunity

This blog is about making money online, and bringing you various business opportunities so that you might make some extra cash too!

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you my readers to CTS Wholesale Sunglasses, and their terrific business concept. If the idea of selling sunglasses appeals to you or you are just curious about this type of business I encourage you to take a look at what they have to offer. And taking a look never hurt right? You'll never know what you might be missing out on otherwise!

I have often thought about looking into different wholesalers and perhaps setting up a shop online through something like Ebay and maybe even another blog.

With winter in it's last weeks and Spring just around the corner why not consider selling wholesale sunglasses? People in general are out and about more in the warmer weather, and they want to look good! Why not capitalise on this segment of the market? Pretty much everyone I know wears sunglasses.

These wholesale sunglasses are replicas of famous brand names, however do not confuse that with fake knock-offs because they are not. They look good, but can be purchased at a fraction of the costs. And people in general feel good wearing these look-alikes. Let's face it most of us cannot afford the often outrageous costs of the famous brand name wear.

An interesting Wholesale Sunglasses business opportunity that does not require a huge investment. Go check them out, and let them know I sent you!
