Blog Your Blessing Sunday: So many things... but happy something has a new home.

Blog yer Blessings

This was my now seemingly annual weekend of being Obama's Elf... er, sorry... all by myself with the "Girls Only" camping trip which takes Sue and the kidollo away from home. It's a nice break, but I do miss them.

So, even though I've done it before, I could blog about being alone and then the homecoming... but I've done that.

This Summer in Toronto can be best described by one word "weather-wise"... wet. It's been WET. Loads and loads of rain... and tomorrow will be no different, but it's suppose to finally get up to normal Summer temps...

...but they're a little extreme at 107 degrees Fahrenheit or 42 degrees Celsius... and sadly, we never did find that air conditioner I mentioned in the past... so really, the only "good thing" is that Sue and the kid might be missing the really nasty hot and sticky heat here for part of the day.

So, what is a pure blessing?

...for me, I did have one this week.

Most people know that RLH 3... "our bus"... is the real goal for our dream. It's still on the table and still our dream and I still am working to get into a position where the money to purchase it and ship it to Toronto... but I've also said that we, as a family, would appreciate any old double-decker and therefore, we have always kept our minds open (as well as our eyes,) to see what we could do...

Well, one of the buses I've always said I would love if "our bus" got away from us was RLH 39... (shown below...)

This week, as I mentioned on my "Wordless Wednesday", I received the excellent news (thanks to The RLH Information Centre,) that this bus has been bought and is being restored by The Mudshark Brewing Company... I couldn't be happier!

Details and images of the bus being "rebuilt" are available by clicking here.

My blessing today is people preserving the past... because although this is a great thing, I'm thankful when anyone or any group preserve anything that otherwise would disappear without care... be it buildings, antique furniture, artwork, or even old double-decker buses.

I wish the The Mudshark Brewing Company all the best and look VERY much forward to keeping up with the restoration work!

Hopefully, you can one day keep track of our work on our bus!

Forgive me for duplicating this from Wednesday, but there was some other new "synchronicity" with the whole bus thing...

Sue and I were sent an old video tape early this week of a talk show from Britain (circa 1997...) I'd never seen it before... and this bit genuinely freaked me out a little...

(You may need to REALLY increase the volume to hear it... it is from an old video tape...)

Now, this might not seem important to SOME of you... but to those who know us... and even odder, I started the group and site in... 1997... same year as this broadcast.

...granted, not like a find with this would set any precedent...

I had to add this here because... well... it was spooky...

Try to find a cool place to spend a little time this week-end. At 107, I would be melting.
Yep, I believe we're all going to be Obama's elves before this is over. Just a casual observation.
Come on by, the pork loin is ready!

Hey DrillerAA... I'm going to take an educated guess that you didn't click the hyper-link on the words "Obama's Elf" in the post, did you?

Anyway, I'll manage... stay hydrated and keep heat-producing things off and away.

As for the pork loin, which IS oddly enough, on the diet list of "okay" things, I wish I could... but I'm stuck in the Great White North... which, today, will be the Baked Green North.

I am happy for you and the old saved bus. I can't watch u tube videos on my old computer so didn't get to see that part. . . We had that 108 temperature for two days a week or so ago. Happy to be in the 60 and 70;s now. No rain here and it makes me happy. (Harder to walk in rain on trails.)

Hey Paulie... I was very glad to hear that #39 was in good hands too... The video? It's weird... basically, the point is made that many British bus drivers believe in ghosts... it was... well... spooky.

Should we go back to concentrating on and letting folks know how things are going with our bus? (Kinda back to the good ol' days?)
