As most of you know, I equate "FaceBook" as a stalker's greatest tool... and most stalkers are indeed great tools... that I'm not 100% fond of really either... and I've also said that there were certain folks from my past who I don't need "poking" me virtually as there's a good reason they cannot "poke" me offline.
That said, there's exceptions to every rule and I was pleased to find two high-school friends online and do gently keep up on their FaceBook comings and goings to at least feel somewhat connected to a touch of my past... as pock-marked and black-streaked as it feels to me.

One friend recently posted the following as their "status" on FaceBook...
[insert high school friend's name here] is looking for a date for Friday night to see the TSO perform music from Star Trek. Yeah, I know that's the geekiest thing you ever heard...
What?
"Geekiest Thing" I've "Ever Heard"???
Granted, I'm the guy who does Monday posts devoted to Doctor Who... and if my friend ever read this, I'm 99.87% sure she'd regale you with tales of my personal "geekdom" at school... and it doesn't hurt that I work in the computer field either, I suppose... so I may not be the BEST person to comment on this, but I was told, once, in my twenties that I was "one cool dude" (I don't think I ever really got over that,) and managed NOT to have a reputation of an ultra-geek throughout my late-teens and twenties... but trust me, I was... and I didn't hide it. When asked, I could talk Star Trek, Doctor Who, Star Wars, even Marvel Comics and classic sci-fi novels until the cows did indeed make their way to their abode!
Anyway, the TSO Star Trek concert sounds AMAZING... I mean, it's hosted by an omnipotent crazy man (John de Lancie) and a holographic medicine man (Robert Picardo) and Sue and I would be so all over it like a flash! (In fact, we both HAD heard about it... and simply forgot when it was happening and missed out when we did thanks to previous plans... even though those plans are looking into ghosts... but I digress...)
"Geekiest Thing"????
Hardly!
Y'know, I've known SO many people that crap on Sci-Fi... until they watch/read/or even listen to some...
God knows I will never forget the person that said that the new "Doctor Who" series (which we introduced them to,) was "Not as good as Grey's Anatomy"... then by the fourth show from the first series said it was "Almost as good as Grey's Anatomy"... then they proceeded, in one weekend, to finish off the first season and most of the second... and then borrowed all our DVDs and is now pretty much caught-up to us on Season Four...
Sci-Fi geekery is geekery that usually involves great stories, fantastic visuals, and loads of action and adventure. Almost all the good shows/books also throw in intellectual stimuli of combining science and ethics as well!
Now, I admitted not too long ago about NOT seeing the new Battlestar Galactica (yet) which is getting RAVE reviews from likely AND unlikely sources... but we are currently watching "Life on Mars" (WHICH EVERYONE SHOULD SEE BEFORE A BIG AMERICAN MEDIA COMPANY RE-MAKES IT AND PROBABLY RUINS IT!) Torchwood, and of course, Doctor Who... and if you saw the people (and the amount of "those people",) who I've gotten hooked on "The Who", you'd be shocked... and amazed... and probably say, Hmmm... that can't be all THAT geeky... (and you'd be right!)
We would have KILLED to see the concert below...
(You should see the bits where the Cybermen and the Daleks made an appearance in the above concert!)
Should the opportunity of anything EQUIVALENT to the above come to T.O., you KNOW we'll be there IN FORCE!

Sci-fi geeky? Perhaps... but I say EMBRACE THE GEEK! Be damned the conventions of supposed normality! It really only proves you have great intellect, imagination, and the ability to follow, understand, and comprehend what people who subsist on only reality TV shows can never appreciate.
Besides, if my friend ever DOES read this, dare you to tell either this person OR this person that the Star Trek concert was "too geeky"! C'mon, I dare ya!
A MESSAGE FOR CANADIANS: The Federal Government has tabled a bill that would turn most of us into criminals.
For example, a kid who "rips" an MP3 from his parents CD collection, re-mixes the tune, and uploads it to YouTube could face a total of $40,500.00 or up to ten years in prison... and that's just ONE example of many.
Unlocking your cell phone for use in another country or with another service, copying video tapes to DVD or computer videos, moving music from your CDs to your iPod... all will be illegal and a minimum $500.00 fine per phone/song/single video clip... maximum fine of $20,000.00 or five-years per offence in prison per phone/song/single video clip.
Don't make listening to CD tracks on an iPod or copying your professionally made wedding video tape to DVD akin to drug dealing and pimping.
If like me, you think this is wrong... be you Conservative, Liberal, New Democrat, Bloc, or other, PLEASE write to your MP and let them know... PLEASE stop bill C-61.
Click here for a neat and quick online letter you can send to your MP showing your wish to stop this bill from going forward.
You can also click here to see a video on what you can do...

See the "latest post" on the left here... I've decided to concentrate on other work so this blog is kinda done for me... THANKS kindly to my friends and regular readers... and as you'll note, I am still loitering in the blogsphere... and I'm still online... and I honestly haven't given up hope that we will get our dream bus one day! (We've just gotten REALLY quiet about it...)
