The Cult of Sue...

Have to KIND OF break One Old Green Bus Rule #47b today... but with good reason... a gift from my Sue!

You see, there is a "fictional" Doctor Who thing called The Cult of Skaro which is made up of a group of Daleks with names (normally, Daleks don't have names,) who are kind of a specialized "killing machines" who are there to promote "Dalek-Kind" and find new ways to achieve conquests.

Well, Sue (as I've stated in the past) has been collecting Doctor Who figures... and has now amassed a collection of Daleks on her desk... which she refers to as The Cult of Sue... which she says she intends to unleash upon the world in order to achieve "total Sue domination"...

Well, Sue gave me one of her "cult"... and I've named him "Bob"! Yup, Say "Hi There!" to DALEK BOB!

Dalek Bob is TONNES of fun! He's my mini-homicidal alien mutant killing machine in an impenetrable robotic-like outfit! Utter genocide is just so cute when perpetrated by Dalek Bob!

See! There he is! Threatening me with extermination on a shelf at my office near my desk! He's such a card!

So, what can I say... except THANK YOU SUE... for sharing the Cult of Sue... and giving me my new bud, DALEK BOB!

*Sigh*! He's such a minx!

STAY TUNED...

In the weeks to come, it might not be out of the question for me to become creatively bankrupt and fall back on the lame concept of for me to publish some photos and journals of DALEK BOB'S FURTHER ADVENTURES!

Gosh only knows what he might do to a "Sculpey" creation...

Long Distance Mom

Mother's Day is fast approaching us, and each year I wish I could do something more for our mothers when it comes to mothers day gifts. Both of our Moms live out of town, and we unfortunately do not get to spend as much day-to-day time as we would like to with each of them. This year we will be sending them gifts, and wishing the a happy mother's day by phone.

If you are in the same situation you might want to have a look at the gift ideas over at 1800flowers.com. I surfed on over there and found the variety of gift ideas impressive. They have subsections to the site where you can pick and choose what you feel best reflects your Mother's personality, and lifestyle such as "office mom, on the go mom, green thumb mom etc" you then click on that section to bring up all sorts of different gift options, and price ranges. It is pretty easy, and they do offer same day delivery, Canadian, and International orders accepted.

For those of us who live at a far distance from our Moms this type of service is a life saver. B)

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
