For two weeks, on and off, I've been posting about political things... Although some saw them as "partisan", I didn't... which is what made me rail... but a new week means a new leaf... and perhaps, since I want to get back to the root of this blog (especially while I still can,) I should look into a goodly, busly blessing!
What? Did I hear some of you say What? Matthew!?! While you still can!?!??! Wha happen'?!??!? Well, there's a chance (a good one) that RLH 3, THE "One Old Green Bus" has a buyer... if you want to know more about that, click here... but allow me to move on right now...
Anyway, I was thinking recently about things busly... as was, oddly enough, Sue... and what got us thinking about such things???
Sounds lacivious, doesn't it?
Well, for those with a delicate constitution, don't panic... and for those hoping for some sort of new "titallation" that affects things below the waist line, sorry I'm going to disappoint you...
Nope, thanks to our "contact" in the UK, we've been watching a program called Britain's Dream Homes from the Beeb.
Now, the show's concept is simple... they pick a category for a "dream home"... like "Converted Mill", "River Front", "Victorian", or "Mews"... from there, they break choices down into three categories... homes for £250,000 or less, homes for £500,000 or less, and homes for £1,000,000 or less.
Two hosts, with "property backgrounds" (Melissa Porter and Rhodri Owen) select their choices and then show them off... and some of the homes are absolutely breathtaking...
Now, as an interesting side-note, as regular readers know, Sue is currently battling a crippling problem known as Graves' Disease... which is HIGHLY treatable and controllable once she get's to see her specialist (shortly) but has been a difficult road for us all... That said, Melissa Porter also has a thyroid ailment... the opposite of Graves'... hypothyroidism... which bears very similar trademarks. It was kind of nice to show Sue this article after watching the first three shows.
...anyway...
Allow me to share, with those of you who don't have issues with FLV video... which should be most... a sample (below...)
Yup, "Property Porn"... who WOULDN'T want to live in a place like this...
Now, leave it to Sue to point out the one drawback... and where the "busly" thing comes in...
While we were bother salivating over this mill-cottage, she mentioned...
Yeah, it's great... I could literally live and die there! ...but there's no place for a bus!
Without missing a beat, I turned and said, "I'd gladly do without a bus for this home!"
(Besides, there is a lovely chance to have a narrow boat...)
Well, we settled in and watched the rest of the program... granted, I kept thinking... isn't it odd that Sue had to point out to me, the guy who started all the busly nonsense, that a dream home... literally a dream home because we'll most likely never come close to owning it and it's a bit of a commute to my job from it... that the bus wouldn't easily factor in.
She, in essence, (okay, in "fantasy",) appeared to be willing to "shelve" what I think most of you agree is a truly spectacular home for a dream that started of as a "me" thing...
...again, obviously, it isn't just my dream anymore...
...and who knows, maybe there was sufficient parking at the mill?
Still, last night, Sue made my blessing... and My blessing this week is being with a thinking, selfless, supportive person who thinks ahead and of me.
Everyone knows a key to a good relationship is trust... next is loyalty... and the other is to be simpatico and adopt and help each other with their hopes and dreams...
Sue is that for me... and again, has adopted that dream... as has the kiddollo... and who could ask for anything more...
...except maybe the converted mill-cottage in the video clip.

The Current Time in Toronto is...
This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...
At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.
We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".
We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.
Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...
Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...
...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...
As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...
But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.
For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...
Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
