Blog Your Blessings Sundays: Gimme Shelter...

Before Starting This Post: You may have noticed we've reverted back to the original looking blog... This is NOT because we've had any success... it's because the complaints were a bit thick... so we have changed back. We are STILL begging for help though... and there's THREE buses involved... please click here and read about the three buses... and if you can help in ANY way, please consider it... Thanks...

Blog yer Blessings

Oh, the weather outside if frightful... but at least we're looking like stereotypical Canada right now...

The view outside the living room window this morning at the palatial Didier/Darroch compound...

For the last five years, it's usually been a "green" Christmas with days in December being warm enough to go without a winter coat...

...not this year, apparently.

It started snowing last night... and although not a "deep" snow (we supposed to get a maximum of 14" or 36 centimetres...) the wind is whipping it up and causing white-outs... for those not familiar with true wintery-weather goodness, that's like a desert sandstorm... save it's snow.

It's a brisk 12 degrees Fahrenheit or -5 degrees centigrade outside... and the winds are NorEasters... gusting at 33km/h (or 20 mp/h...) Not a big wind, but enough to cause a lot of dry, icey snow about.

It is not a day to be outside... in fact, the television and radio news are telling everyone to stay in because of road conditions.

Yesterday, Sue and I did the lion's share of ALL our Christmas shopping... and then I went out after, when Sue told me "not to pick up too much" and bought about four days worth of groceries... good call.

Another view outside the living room window this morning at the palatial Didier/Darroch compound...

Believe it or not, we're NOT completely staying in... a decision was made this morning to go to a store that is almost literally around the corner to pick up two last gifts... and we are out of salt...

...but days like this remind me of days like this (click here)... and my heart goes out to people who, for whatever reason, do not have a roof over their head... and I'm glad that in Toronto, there's patrols out to literally grab homeless folks and take them to shelters...

Still, there are those who will slip through the cracks... and my prayer is that they will find a way to be safe and sound on days like this.

...and although I do feel a trifle guilty about it, My Blessing Today is Shelter from the Storm.

It will be a nice day to cuddle up with the blogs, some games, a book or two, a documentary, the puppies... all with Sue today...

I hope, wherever you are, you're safe and warm... and that the season is treating you well...

It's been a cold December in our part of the world as well.

So, I would like to join you in wishing safety and warmth to one and all.

Have a great week ahead.

Sounds like a great day. We're having a similar one south of you. This storm is not as photogenic as we had hoped. We're playing the game of figuring out what kind of cookies can be baked with what's in the fridge. The hot dogs are posing the biggest challenge....

Enjoy your day!

Hey NeoBluePanther... Thanks and the very same to you and your's!

Hello SandyCarlson... Cookies made with hotdogs... doesn't work for me, personally, but hey, to each their own! :D

Hi Paulie... The white stuff is enjoyable from indoors... and Sue and I have gotten in some significant "snuggling" time... so it has been a good day overall!

Howdy Kuanyin... It is one of the services that make me feel a little better about the city I live in... I hope you're week is a little less issue-y with weather! Best of the Season to you and yours!

Snow - wonderful to look at - not so good to work around or with.

Hope you enjoyed your snow day snuggled in the warm.

Hey MsDemmie... You said it! Check tomorrow's post... I'm having a "snow day" but I'm publishing a few more snaps we took yesterday when we (after all) DID decide to venture out a little!

One Old Green Bus

NEW! For the next few weeks, we need your help more than ever! Not only are we still hoping for our bus (see below) but are hoping that either we can find a buyer/owner for an old red bus that will be scrapped without a saviour OR we are hoping to raise the $5,000.00 it will take for us to be able to rescue this bus ourselves. We only have a few weeks so help is needed URGENTLY to save this wonderful old bus. Please click here for more information about this bus that's in grave danger of being scrapped...

-----------

This blog is (more or less) about the attempts to acquire a dusty, old, double-decker bus...restore, and refurbish her...for use as a camper/RV, and day tripper for fun, and travel

The bus is a Regent Low Height (to be exact, RLH 3) in Santa Rosa, California... To purchase and ship it to our home in Toronto, Ontario, Canada will require a minimum of $20k in US dollars to achieve...

As goofy as it may seem, owning this old, dusty, non-running, needs a tonne of work bus would be a dream come true for our family.
