Regent Low Height 62 on eBay...

Before Starting This Post: PLEASE HELP! I'm begging... Click here if you don't know what I'm on about... I have about ONE WEEK or the "One Old Red Bus" will be scrapped.

For those interested... Regent Low Height #62 is for sale... it supposedly runs well and is going for $6,250.00 on eBay.

#62 is a relative of our "One Old Green Bus" which is RLH #3...

For more information on RLH 62, click here.

She's a goodly bus, no doubt... and nearby in Ohio...

...and as much as if I had $6,500 it would be a NO BRAINER... I've got my hands full right now. :)

That said, she IS running... and MUCH close than the other two...

HEY! A guy can dream, right?

Gosh help Sue should we win a $30,000.00 lottery! She'll end up with THREE old buses!!! :)

Gee whiz! It's e-mail day!!! (See below... this post... for the first bit of e-mail weirdness over the last few hours...)

Okay, another good question...

So, since RLH 62 is closest to you and running, and it's much cheaper, why not get it and paint it green?

We'd LOVE RLH 62... without question.

It would suit pretty much every need... and if anyone said, Hey! Would you like this bus? and handed it to us, we'd be overjoyed. Scratch that, we'd be EXTREMELY overjoyed.

That said, RLH 3 (the old green bus) holds a special place with us...

...and Barton Transport #512 (the old red bus) would still be a project to ensure it doesn't get scrapped.

BUT SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE two people's REAL intent to find out, allow me to answer some questions...

- = - = - = -

*IF* we got RLH 3 (One Old Green Bus) we'd still keep the blog going, remove the begs for help with is AND remove the "PayPal" icons and such. That would be mission accomplished. We would still, for the next couple of weeks, be trying to find a saviour for Barton Transport #512 (one old red bus) to keep her from the scrappers... and succeed or fail, after December, we'd stop begging for help with her AND this blog would be about our trials and tribulations with RLH 3...

- = - = - = -

*IF* we got ahold (personally) of Barton Transport #512 (One Old Red Bus) we would STILL be trying to get RLH 3. Basically, RLH 3 is a special bus to us... which is why it's so important on our radar. If you don't know why, click here... but we would be THRILLED to have Barton Transport #512 as a personal project.

- = - = - = -

*IF* we got RLH 62 which is a RUNNING and "close-by" Regent Low Height, (our favourite model,) we WOULD remove the begs for help with RLH 3 in a sense... We would focus our energies on fixing up RLH 62 and then try to get RLH 3 on our own... no help... because the "gift" (and it would have to be a gift) of RLH 62 would be more than a small token... it would be a victory in many ways as it's a Regent Low Height AND it's running so the work wouldn't be as horrendous to get her up and going. That said, and to re-state, RLH 3 is STILL special to us... so we wouldn't give up on her.

- = - = - = -

In essence, for us right now to demonstrate to our kids that a DREAM can come true is the important thing... and they know our dream is an RLH bus... therefore, THAT is the important thing.

Ergo: To get an RLH bus is the mission. The ultimate goal is RLH 3. We'd be happy with any of 'em.

As for the non-RLH (Barton Transport #512), this quest has left us with a love for these buses... all of them... and knowing that she WILL be scrapped without saving is why she's mentioned. "We" don't care if it's us or ANYONE... we just want the bus to be safe from being turned into a 4 x 4 cube of semi-recyclable materials.

If we get her, GREAT! If someone else saves her, FANTASTIC!

...but yeah, RLH 3 is the main goal... and the "mission" is a Regent Low Height.

...and yes, if we achieve our main goal, we WILL stop begging.

If we achieve the mission, we will reign in the begging.

I hope this answers the question for folks.

I applaud you most for wanting to teach your children that dreams are a possibility and that perservance is a good way to live your life. I hope you get one of the buses I really do. And should I win the lottery, I promise a donation would be forthcoming and maybe I'd save one of the buses for us....reminds me, did we buy a ticket this week? LOL
Love your blog, and want you to know you are on my blogroll and I hope you get some traffic from that.

Thanks Penelope Anne... I will of course add your blog to my links too.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a "lottery win" is probably what will end up making the dream a reality... many people are pulling for us, and odds are at SOME point, someone's gonna come into some coin and feel generous.

In many ways, the thing I look forward to most, and hope happens before she's TOO old... is the look on our twelve-year old's face when we say, "It's coming."

The one time she THOUGHT it was, I can't describe her expression... it was a combination of wonder and delight... and it made both Sue and I REALLY double our efforts.

In essence, we do have something to work for... and to prove. :)

The Current Time in Toronto is...

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
