I'd give credit to Steve Smith for the title of this weeks blog, but to be fair, it's an ancient joke so NYEAH!

Although it was hard to fathom, this past weekend was a long weekend here in Canada for "Thanksgiving"... the origins of said celebrations in my home country seem to be in somewhat dispute... at least, online... click here and then here.
It doesn't matter a whole lot to us, however, because a lousy, senseless, rotten argument with a fellow in our apartment complex on Saturday left Sue and myself on pins and needles for about 36 hours... everything resolved itself, but ye gads, so much for relaxing!
This is, however, not to say that we are not thankful for our life, our friends, our country, and a lot of other things... and to be honest, it legitimately pained me that we were so fehclempt that penning a proper "Blog Your Blessing Sunday" actually nagged at me. Realistically, the WORST case outcome from the unpleasantness from Saturday would still not be the worst thing in the world... and we do have much to be grateful for in life.

One thing, however, was having a ridiculously hot Thanksgiving weekend... into the high eighties in Fahrenheit... or low thirties in Celsius. It's a strange October weekend that in Canada, you're looking for places to "hide" for a bit with air conditioning!
Still, I don't want to give the notion that the weekend was an unmitigated disaster... it wasn't... Sue and I had a couple of pleasant walks, saw a bit of our city we hadn't seen before, and generally did "okay".
...but I'd be lying if I didn't say two things in this "aftermath of a bad weekend" post...
#1: It's amazing how one argument with one person can taint the majority of a supposed "relaxing" weekend for really, no better reason than, apparently, it could be done at our expense. I'm a little bitter about this... but c'est la vie.
#2: I spent the time that I wanted to post something up DESPERATELY trying to express something (shockingly) about the bus... and for some reason, just couldn't muster the words or thoughts.
I often complain on Mondays that my muse sleeps in or the like leaving me desperately trying to knit together SOMETHING interesting for you to read... heck, I'll admit it... this post, so far, to a new reader seems to me to be about as interesting to read as watching paint dry... to an older reader, as interesting as sitting in a dentist's waiting room... but again, I just have "this thought" or "feeling" or "emotion" I'm kinda desperate to voice in some fashion and...

Perhaps it's the stress of the season...
On top of October (and Halloween) being a very odd time in the big hobby for us with a LOT of new demands from "casual fans" who, at this time of year, REALLY step up the onslaught of e-mails, questions, and requests... it's also dangerously close to our little one's birthday (within the first couple of weeks in November.)
...all this while this "relaxing weekend" had me wondering if we'd be apartment hunting.
I could add to this being a former smoker who only recently (FIVE WEEKS!) quit, it's been... well... tough.
To contradict myself again, however, it's not like any of us are desperately ill... or that we've had a death in the family... or anything that I'd consider FAR more devastating to deal with... so I feel kinda guilty about whining and complaining...
So, I can't vocalise a thought... I can't "share" this feeling... I can't muster the words to declare my emotions on our dream right now...
There's worse things that happen at sea you know! (...as Eric Idle reminds us in his song...)

So, I'll deal with the writers block... which isn't really a complete block (as demonstrated above,) and hope that the week improves...
...and that the casual "ghost" fans give us a wee break and understand that everyone "loves us" in October, but we're still doing the "ghostly thang" in February too...
...and that the fellow in my building meant it when he said I got blasted because, for lack of a better term, I was a handy "venting" target...
...and that, if nothing else, Sue, the kid, and I have much loving and laughing and just get through these minor "rocky" times.
One things certain... I love my family... I love Sue... and in the grand scheme, that's all that really matters...
So, to my muse I say, YOU GOT TWO DAYS OF MEMES TO REST-UP AND I DEMAND YOU ALLOW ME TO GET MY THOUGHTS OUT BETTER ON FRIDAY!
To the "stressors" in my life... GO ON, GIVE ME YOUR WORST! YOU'LL NEVER WIPE THE SMILE COMPLETELY FROM MY FACE!
...and to you, my gentle readers... what can I say except I promise to be a little more entertaining as the week goes on... and I owe you a REALLY good "blessing" for this Sunday coming up!
So, remember... if the women can't find you handsome, they can at least find you handy... and keep your stick on the ice. Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati.
Oh, and for those wondering why I haven't done my usual "comment back" to comments... blame the nasty weekend... I promise I'll be a good blogger and make the commenting rounds this week!

Allow me to start with we do not own nor are we selling a bus. Just had to get that out...
This blog was started in April of 2006... during a very bad time for me and my family when money was very tight and life was very hard.
We maintained a happier outlook on life by fantasizing... talking about what we would do when times were better... and as Sue and myself are Anglophiles, England factored greatly into our "plans".
During these bad times, while looking at news items which, at the time included items about London removing their venerable old Routemasters, I came across one photo of an old green bus... and somehow, my whole family adopted it. It became very much "our bus". (Details about "our bus" are available by clicking here.)
Like most of you, I'd heard about the fellow who'd made a million dollars selling tiny ads online... and the fellow who did trades and turned a paper clip into a house... so I thought, since we couldn't make our bus actually into "our bus" (well beyond our means,) I'd try an "online" appeal... to make the focused item of our hopes into a tangible thing in our lives...
More specifically, in a burst of adult/juvenile optimism, I had hoped to show the youngest member of the family, who at the time was still very youthful and impressionable, that dreams really could become reality if you hope and, more importantly, try.
Well, I'm pretty sure you figured it out... we had limited succes in this venture... and the youngest has now reached an age where she is more traditionally "teenaged" cynical than much else about the world, which isn't a dreadful thing... but there's a "good news" portion to this... our personal situation with money is better, life has improved, and some people really liked my rambling here... so, I decided to keep things going... Yes, I will "give up" on asking for help on a bus... and have to give up on even trying as hard to get the bus through online means... and yes, be far more realistic... but I don't mind this "turn" of things as I actually enjoy venting, trying my hand at humour, and generally keeping on online presence outside my usual things.
Thanks to those who were/are "Busly Dream" enthusiasts... I suppose that our buses for now will be single-deck with the letters "TTC" emblazoned on them... but this blog will live as does our dream! (It's just a little quieter on that latter bit...)
