Mark. Fan-Boy. Geek.

Toronto's in the midst of it's big "entertainment extravaganza" with the Toronto International Film Fest and this past weekend was a big music festival (Virgin Fest) as well...

...and I feel like SUCH a huge geek/mark/fan-boy for blogging about ONE aspect of this... considering I've already done a post on this fellow, but SUPER-PROPS to Matt Damon.

Aside from having a great set of initials for monograms, the man does a HELL of a lot for charity... and this past Sunday was no exception... and all her in Tronna.

For the last couple of years, during the film fest, he's hosted the One X One "gala" to raise money for children's charities worldwide... (See the news article by clicking here.)

There's two very important reasons I'm bringing this up today...

Now, I'm going to be VERY kind... if you're absolutely sick of the whole "bus" thing, skip down past this first bit... just skip the stuff between the lines...

First of all, I can't reiterate enough that although people DO see this blog and our dream as a "cyberbeg", if you were to write to me and say, I'm confused... I have a whackload of cash, and it's enough to see your dream come true... but I'm thinking of donating it to a worthy charity instead... what should I do?

...my answer WILL BE GIVE IT TO THE CHARITY! This blog and site is about a dream... but dreams MUST take a back seat to needs... and there ARE millions of people (and, in the One X One case, children,) who need help long before a Canadian family with a kooky dream...

To be VERY honest, if you wrote to us saying, Funny you should put that bit about charities in your post... I was thinking of giving you guys the cash, but instead, I did help the One X One charities! got news for ya... we wouldn't be sad... we'd be proud... and grateful... and truly honoured that we helped you to find them.

The FACT is, we are hoping that YES, someone will "front" the money for our dream...

...but, as an example, helping us realise our dream is a good chance for someone with insight to see the potential for some pretty amazing advertising...

Think about it...

A rolling old double-decker bus travelling literally ACROSS The United States and Canada en route to it's home? It WILL be going from Santa Rosa, California to Toronto, Ontario... It WILL attract a lot of attention on this journey, no doubt!

The bus WILL need to travel on a flat-bed truck... possibly via flat-bed rail as well... and YES, these buses CAN and HAVE travelled that way safely without whacking their roof... after all, it is a "low height" bus!

See this post (click here) for more pictures of buses being shipped...

This means THOUSANDS and even potentially MILLIONS of motorists and other folks in Canada and America will see it on it's trip...

One has to assume (CORRECTLY) that anyone driving the highway or stopped at a railway stop most likely WOULD notice an old double-decker bus go by... and IMAGINE if a logo or advertising was on this bus... Do you think they might "spot" it a little better than the average billboard???

I have to assume it would sink in a touch better...

...then there's the (I have to assume) blog entries both "pro" and "con" if we achieve success... (I feel VERY confident that it would be FAR more "pro" our success posts - celebrating with us - than "con"... but hey, it's the internet... and there's "haters" for everyone and everything... and they really are mostly online!) meaning even MORE exposure for the person or company that sees this vision...

Great exposure AND a family's dream comes true... what's better?

Granted, we are moving in the right direction with the route we're currently taking... and we're not leaving a "huge monetary footprint" in our efforts... but it is slower... and does "threaten" the possibility of success... as every day we aren't there is another day the bus might end up scrapped or sold-off...

The other thing that came to mind reading about the One X One gala... is that Matt Damon, despite SEEMING a little like "The Flavour of the Day", is a genuine success.

This is "success" measured the way I blogged about a while back...

I'm going to be 100% honest... when I first saw Matt Damon... I kinda went, Ah! Another Hollywood pretty-boy to do the "kid next door" kinda roles... and you gotta admit, his look DOES denote this...

But he ain't... and his actions speak MUCH louder than his words.

So kudos to him and all the folks who have gotten behind the causes... and yes, this includes Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Don Cheadle, and all the folks who during this "fest" in Toronto have lent their voices, persons, and yes, even their cash to help those who really need help.

Like I said, these folks know "success".

The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!

This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.

Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.

This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.

If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)

Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!

We thank you for your support!

Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...

Should we go back to concentrating on and letting folks know how things are going with our bus? (Kinda back to the good ol' days?)
