Busly Saturdays - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, and the Indifferent...

Hmm... I like that title... I may use it ALL the time for every post on Saturdays!

It allows me to do a very quick read thing for you... sort-of sectional thing... like THIS!

The Good...

My review from the folks at So Many Blogs, So Little Time...

I tossed "One Old Green Bus" up to it expecting to be torn a new one as a cyber-begger with a lousy template and horrendous side-bar... BUT THEY WERE NOT ONLY NICE, they were absolutely POSITIVE!

It really made us all feel really good... and once again, tossed home what ONIT (Oh No! It's TRISH!) from Incoherent-ish and Kuanyin from The Art of Living and Dying have said... when we get our bus, the blogsphere (and other's) will celebrate 'cuz everyone likes a happy ending... sounds glib, but I'm being quite serious.

To quote Lexis Eldorado, our reviewer...

What is the best feature of this blog? That even though they only have $361 dollars towards their $20K dream, I see them before the year is out being a Human Interest story and watch the money come flooding in.

Yup, that made our day!

The Bad...

My emotions ran a little wild after reading some blogs... including some feedback on my own writing in other places.

Yup, I ranted... and then re-ranted... and got some nasty e-mails about it. Apparently, I know both my mother and former Vice President Al Gore far better than I thought... to the point where it's obvious that I do need therapy.

Folks, if you disagree with me... or if you feel I have a political stripe you don't like, argue the points... or at least, buy a thesaurus and don't make assumptions of my sexual preferences.

The Ugly...

Thursday's and Friday's posts... I was in a slump... and creatively bankrupt as I had to effect repairs on two of the home's three main computers... Sue's and the kiddos.

There I was, sweating and struggling... and then attempting to find my muse before bedtime... or in the morning over my coffee... and I blew.

Granted, Fridays WAS a bit of a "lesson" (or attempt therein) that I hope will get through to one person I know... but none-the-less, it was lofty and really didn't belong here.

I shall improve!

The Indifferent...

There's been ZERO news... no financial movement this week, no busly movement (still in Santa Rosa in it's barn,) and no major change up or down to the hits... which considering the last two days, I'm shocked! (...and pleased!)

Other than that, it's been goodly... even Mr. Fab, usually SILENT on this blog, gave us some love on the review post...

Fabbed to Death!

I was deathly and painfully ill last weekend, and as of today, I'd say I'm 99% better... and have a FIVE DAY WEEKEND COMING UP!!!! (Woo-Hoo!)

...and CBC hasn't threatened to sue (yet) for my over-abuse of old Morningside sound-bytes last Sunday... bless 'em!

So, everything's coming up goodly and we still have that busly feeling and are feeling that busly LOVE!

Heck, even one of the people that e-mailed me about my rant saying that I had rather interesting relations with Al Gore wished us luck on the dream after slagging me something fierce!

Despite everything, I do believe that everyone does like the ol' bus!

I know we do!

The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!

This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.

Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.

This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.

If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)

Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!

We thank you for your support!

Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...

The Current Time in Toronto is...

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
