Busly Saturdays: IT MOVED! IT MOVED!

Oh, not the bus... the thermometer! (It's down aways on the side bar...)

...and I don't mean the thermometer that's measuring the BRUTAL temperatures of Toronto right now...

Nope, it's the one that measures how we're doing fiscally towards the $20k goal... and it's moved up by a wowing $100.00!!!!!!!!

A kind donator has upped us by one-hundred bones closer to getting RLH 3 to a new home in Toronto!

MANY thanks to our donator for this! Will 2007 be the year of the bus??? STAY TUNED!

We've not heard any news about the bus itself... so it's safe to assume it's still in it's barn in Santa Rosa... and still, sadly, being filled with refuse.

Readership here is WAY UP... by about one to two hundred visitors per day!!! I must be doing something right... perhaps it's dropping things like "Photos of Brad Pitt Buck Naked" into posts and fooling search engines...

Kidding... well, not anymore.

Actually, today (thanks to the brutal heat) I'm marveling at the $30 air conditioner... which WOULD run on the old 17 amp circuits at the palatial Didier/Darroch Compound in Toronto's West End.

Cool idea!

You ever hear about this? Check it out (click here).

On a side note, blog related, our friend Candy Minx could not find the contact information on the blog... which I don't blame her for... if you scroll down on the right, you'll see it near the "Skype" information... below the thermometer...

What makes this a giggle for me is that people we WANT to hear from can't find this link... BUT TRUST ME the people that we DON'T want to hear from have no problems!

Below is to make our friend Trish happy...

I feel guilty because she THOUGHT we had attached her banner to the bottom of the blog here... but alas, it was simply a rotating one... so, this should make up for that and show that we do appreciate her bein' 'round the ol' green bus!

On another happy note, you may remember last weekend me getting all "gooey" over Kuanyin saying that when we succeed and get the bus, all the bloggers will celebrate and how that actually resonated with me because, YEAH, I do believe the mass bulk of 'em will! (Mostly because I know if the tables were reversed, I'd be 100% thrilled for the blogger who had their dream come true.) Well, the BUSLY LOVE has been shining through with MORE and MORE well wishers! Heck, we are PLEASED that WE have become fodder for other blogs!!!

The whacky double-decker thing seems to be a thing...

Don't believe me?

Were you/Are you a FAN of "Dread Zeppelin"? The white-guy reggae band that does covers of Zeppelin sung by an Elvis impersonator named "Tortelvis"?

OKAY, some of you STILL look confused... so here's a BRIEF sample... (click play below...)

There...

Now, Sue went over to their site to see what the boys and Tortelvis were up to... and...

Tortelvis Feelin' That Hunk-a-hunk-a Burnin' Busly Love!

Sure, it may NOT be green, but I'll take it... it's Tortelvis feelin' that hunk-a-hunk-a burnin' busly love!

And as a last note... We ARE the current FEATURED POSTIE on Pay-Per-Post this week!

...and they didn't use the pic Sue took of me for their entry... I guess I was right... I have a GREAT face for radio.

The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!

This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.

RLH 3

Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.

This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.

If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)

Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!

We thank you for your support!

Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...

I don't know why I find this site funny and interesting, but maybe it's because it sounds like such a long story and difficult embarkation (yah, made the word up.) Good luck and I'll be back later.

Hi Jael... Well, it could be my looks. I've been told I look quite funny. Embarkation is a word, actually... and it might be fitting. A "point of embarkation" is a place where one starts a journey... Ergo: Embarkation is kinda a "stepping off"... which MIGHT be applicable so it's a good choice! Glad to have you around! Off to check your blog out!

This blog is called One Old Green Bus. Yup, the bus is green. What colour is the bus?

The Current Time in Toronto is...

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
