Chris Benoit and Family Found dead...

I got home and read the news via a friend's message...

All I can tell anyone right now is that WCW, ECW, and WWE wrestler, Chris Benoit, "The Canadian Crippler" and easily one of the best technical wrestlers in the world was found dead (as was his wife and son) in their home today.

There are no other details available right now...

Benoit was forty years old.

For more information, please check with Figure Four Weekly.

Also check the Live Audio Wrestling website for news.

AJC News Item...

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Benoit family and their friends during this terrible time.

Update: (June 26th) From Figure Four Weekly...

By Bryan Alvarez...

WWE.com is now reporting that police have ruled the death of the Benoit family a double homicide/suicide from within the home.

Most major news outlets are now reporting that the belief is that Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, Daniel on Sunday, and himself on Monday. It is being reported that "the instruments of death" were found inside the house, and that all three bodies were found in different rooms.

"The details, when they come out," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard, "are going to prove a little bizarre."

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not be available for some time. A timeline should be established, however, which should answer many questions.

I can guess what kind of e-mail I'm gonna get...

Ahhhh...

Sue and I are doing our usual thing with our main paranormal sites during the Summer... ParaResearchers is not doing new stuff online between now and September... and Torontoghosts and Ontarioghosts is not doing new online stuff between now and late-August.

This is not to say it will never happen, because the nice thing about being a director is I can change my mind or make a "special exception"...

...but for now, I'm not doing any coding for the site and yeah, I mentioned this in my update notes.

What will happen now, and you can set your watch to it, is I'll get my usual ten to fifteen e-mails per day personally... but now they'll all say, "I know you're on vacation, but..."

What's funny is that word... "vacation"...

This Summer, as it's a new job, I will not be away from work (the day job) for any length of time... I will still be studying, working on cases, researching some papers, and setting up investigations... and I will be generally chasing my tail... with one thing removed... the need to code and FTP a few HTML documents to some websites...

...but it will still be "assumed" I'm on a "vacation".

To be honest, I'm not mad... I'm not even a little grumpy... but my studies are a hobby! I love my work and it's an almost all consuming passion!

Scary! BOO!

Ergo: My perfect vacation could mean hours at the reference library... hours walking about a dark and spooky location... and generally getting into it with folks and different colleagues about various ideas and hypothesis...

...but to those witnesses and those with questions who figure I'm taking "time off", don't bet on it... and I ain't sorry for NOT doing it!

So, it kinda brings me back to this here blog... I know that there are many hobbies and things folks do that are time consuming that require a tonne of energy and resources that people are compelled to do... I have a few... if we get the bus, that'll be one... we're doing the paranormal schtick, that's two... and we're historical re-enactors... a trifecta of energy... but it's all good for us!

Wheee!

I don't know how the bus will "affect" us (or even if it will... we could still lose it...) but I do know that every time we came back from a re-enactment or an investigation or hours of study and research... we were energized, sharp... and dare I say it? YES! More relaxed!

People have different ways of blowing off steam... some go to beaches and lounge... some hike through mountains... others visit museums and historic sites... and what it seems to come down to is do you like to switch yourself "off" to vacation, or "on"?

Me... and Sue... sure, we enjoy "slothy" days of nothingness... but both of us readily admit, too much of that (which for us is a matter of days, not weeks...) would be an anathema.

...but I do understand those who LOVE spending two weeks in perma-snooze mode... to be totally lazy and at ease and catered to...

It's just not for us.

How do you spend your "downtime"... 'cuz my "downtime" is really kinda "uptime"!

Oh, and yeah, I will still be doin' the blogs... just not the sites for a few weeks!

Some Words On Affordable Life Insurance Quotes

Both Matthew, and I lost our fathers at a relatively young age. His father passed away when he was only 17, and I was 32 when my father died of cancer. In Matthew's case life insurance enabled his mother to maintain her home, and the lifestyle she was accustomed to after the early, and unexpected death of her husband, and sole provider of their family. In our case we were able to draw off funds in order to provide my father with extra health care, which enabled him to spend the last few weeks of his life at home, and out of hospital, which was his final goal, and wish. Afterwards the money received through his policy insured we could pay off his funeral expenses.

These are not easy things to talk about, but we are a family, and not only must we consider them in relation to ourselves, but our kid's futures as well. Everyone should if possible have some life insurance to cover even the basics costs associated with dying.

Affordable Life Insurance Quotes can be obtained rather easily through the InsuranceSalesman.com online resource, and guide to insurance products. The website is easy to use, and allows for people to shop around for the best insurance products for their own needs. Have a look at the site, and use their drop down box to search for your state or province. They provide a form to fill in, and from that you will be given free, no obligation quotes.

The Current Time in Toronto is...

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
