Usually, I loath tags... but to be honest, yesterday was a particularly brutal day at work and I was bushed, creatively bankrupt, and generally not capable of good and entertaining blog fodder...
So, when MsDemmie broke the news, as opposed to the grumpy Tag Me Not! person, she's found a willing victim...
So without further adieu, allow me to post away with this tag...
Eight Random Things About Me (Matthew)
Da Rules I Gotta Post... One: Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. Two: People who are tagged need to write their own blog entry about their eight things and post these rules. Three: at the end of your entry, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names/pseudonyms/blogs. Four: Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
#8: I have experienced ghostly phenomena...
I hesitate to say, "I seen a ghost!" or "I was haunted!" simply because I don't know what a ghost is... and that's why I've really studied them a lot. That said, I'm sure you'd all LOVE to know my experiences... but it's too much to retype... so if you're interested, click here (opens a new browser) and have a read...
I can honestly say I've experienced more since then at a few different locations... but that was the one that pushed me into overdrive on the study.
#7: I can't fold laundry.
This sounds like a cop-out... it isn't.
I don't mind DOING laundry, I can even iron and hang laundry... but ask me to fold stuff and I'm all thumbs.
It's almost like a Freudian-type thing... but people have TRIED to teach me... and I just suck.
#6: I want a job in radio.
I proclaim high and low, after doing many television programs, news interviews, and documentary interviews that I loath media... and I do!
The key is, I would like my OWN radio program... some place where I can treat the subjects I love with respect and interest rather than stupidity.
#5: I almost always wear safety shoes.
Yup. My favourite footwear has a steel toe and steel shank... I would remind the gentle readers that now-a-days, these things come in much nicer and lighter variations... my current ones resemble a black-leather pair of running shoes... and yeah, they are comfy too!
#4: Don't tell Sue this, but if we had the space, we'd have several more pets.
Two birds, two dogs, three cats, two hamsters, and a dwarf rabbit... and yeah, if I could, I'd GLADLY add a dog and another cat... maybe even two more birds...
Don't tell Sue though... she thinks SHE'S the reason we have so many pets and if she knew... I might come home from work to new pets...
#3: I am a reformed Coke addict.
Yeah, I used to drink two litres per day... minimum... but I kicked the habit when I was in my late twenties... and rarely have even a can a week now.
I heard kicking a serious Coke addiction was hard... but it wasn't too bad.
I mean, if I can do it, how bad could it be for Lindsay Lohan to give it up?
#2: Yes, there are bus pictures up on the wall in our bedroom...
...BUT THEY ARE NOT OVER THE BED!
I'm not that bad...
#1: There are a total of twelve die-cast metal double-decker buses on my desk, one large plastic one, and I have a "bus-phone"...
Very cool...
...and it works!
...and who to tag... hmmm... Well, I'm gonna pick some new blood than my normal choices... Bill Blunt should try this... as should Angela at AGK who's a regular visitor via the blog logs... same with Kelly from Kellyoglogy... I'm going to hassle a new commenter in The Crafty green Poet... I'm gonna tag my big sister at RealTalk... Robin at Robin's Blog Blather is on deck... as is Lynn at Motivated Motion... but I need to round myself out with an old friend... so Blandly Urbane at DeMediaCratic Nation, YOU BEEN TAGGED, sir!
If you see this first, it's kinda late so I'll be by to comment and alert you to your newly "tagged" status this evening.
The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!
This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.
Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.
This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.
If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)
Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!
We thank you for your support!
Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...
For this edition of Helping Hands Thursday I am happy to feature Army Navy Mall: Camouflage Clothing & Outdoor Gear. Aside from the fact I love the look of military style clothing (on my wish list is a flight jacket), they also feature camping, and outdoor gear at sale prices. And with summer arriving in the northern hemisphere today there is no better time to check out the bargains at Army Navy Mall.
If you are not into camping Army Navy Mall carries other items of interest including clothing, footwear, books, police gear, cds, flags, and other assorted gift ideas for the military enthusiast on your shopping list.
Their website is nicely designed, and laid out so that it is easy to find merchandise of interest. They offer secured online purchasing powered by Yahoo so you are safe shopping through them. Other information such as shipping rates are available through their website.
Go have a look at their site, and check out their discounted prices. It's a good way to save money on these types of products.

The Current Time in Toronto is...
This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...
At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.
We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".
We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.
Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...
Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...
...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...
As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...
But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.
For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...
Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
