For the new readers here (and we've acquired quite a few over the last week,) Saturday's posts are devoted to telling folks how we're doing with our quest!
Okay, first "the quest" in a nutshell... We're trying to purchase and ship and old double-decker bus. We cannot afford to do this ourselves (we could do it in a few years, but by then it will be either sold for scrap or "carved up" beyond restoration,) so we're here begging for help. The bus means a great deal to my whole family and it's a "group dream" and effort! If you want to know a little more on WHY it's so important, click here.
Moving on...
We go through financials... did we make any more money? Did anyone offer fiscal assistance?
The answer this week, like the last few is no. Nothing to report. We're still well over $19k needed to see the dream through.
Then we talk about the bus itself. At last report, it's still under shelter in a barn in Santa Rosa, California... which is good... but it's being filled with garbage... which is bad.
This has not changed... and yeah, it stings to know it's being used as a large, ornate garbage-skip.
Then we talk about the blog... and any news about the workings of what you're reading...
The only thing I have to report on that end is about a 25% increase in traffic over the last week... much of it "return traffic" too!
This is good as the more people who know about what we're up to, the more people MIGHT talk about or blog about it... and the more likely we are to find someone who might help us out and get our bus.
More Readers = Better Chances.
So, now that I've gotten the mechanics out of the way...
I wonder why the sudden upturn?
I have to admit, it's probably the pictures... This past week, I've been a "picture-posting fool" with more pics than normal... and I do believe people like that... I think(?) this is why... but who knows...
On another note, we are DEFINITELY taking MsDemmie's advice and looking into biting a bullet and HIRING a public relations company to see what can be done to increase traffic and knowledge of what we're hoping to do... We don't have much money, but perhaps spending a little will help us a lot... time and effort will tell...
Other than this, I invite... no, I BEG new readers... you don't have to help us with cash... help us by spreading the word... help us with suggestions... help us by being a regular reader even!
I do try to "mix things up" and most posts on the blog are more "fun" than "begs"... Heck, some of my best writing personally happens on Sunday when I do my "Sunday Blessing" and my "BlogTalkers" posts... so c'mon back tomorrow... see if you like it... see if this blog IS worth your surfing effort... we do TRY to make it so...
Thanks for reading... and now, off to spend a lazy Toronto Sunday with Sue!
Oh, and before signing off... Sorry for the brevity of today's post... but I've been a "posting fool" over at our history blog... and it's taken a lot out of me. Makes me wonder how Sue does it with FOUR blogs to look after constantly! Me, I've got this one and am a sometime collaborator on the aforementioned
history blog and the paranormal blog...
Speaking of the latter... ten'll get you twenty we'll get SOME publicity in October because of our studies! (Halloween has a way of making the media beat a path to our door...)
The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!
This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.
Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.
This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.
If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)
Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!
We thank you for your support!
Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...
A few months back we were racking our brains trying to come up with some fun, and unique ideas for Tristan's baby shower favors to give away to our guests. It really is a shame that I had not come across All In One Fun Favors at that time, because they have a great selection of party favors for just about every type of event or ceremony imaginable including adorable items for baby showers.
If you have got something similar coming up, or you are responsible for corporate functions that require giveaways you might just want to have a look at the various party favors they have available for purchase.
These items are very well priced, and ground shipping on most of them is free! Now that, is a very good deal! I already have them bookmarked for future parties such as birthdays for the kiddos that we will be holding. Go have a look! I think you'll be as impressed with what they are offering as I was.
Our thanks to our sponsors!

The Current Time in Toronto is...
This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...
At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.
We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".
We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.
Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...
Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...
...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...
As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...
But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.
For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...
Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
