'Tis strange and troubled times we live in...

So Paris Hilton is in jail... and chances are Conrad Black will not be joining her... Lindsay Lohan is in rehab... and was recommended to the one she's in by Britney Spears... who found out about it from Courtney Love... and who knows, but I bet within seven degrees of this, Kevin Bacon factors in somehow.

The best presidential candidate (who'll likely win) for the Republican party is Rudy Giuliani, a lapsed Catholic with "soft views" on single-parenthood and abortion... quite possibly meaning the soon-to-be-former American Religious Right will probably swing to support the only sincere Christian who has a fighting chance of getting into office so far other than Rudy, and that's Barack Obama of the Democrats.

...and if this isn't enough, as of last night, only SEVEN people took the time to vote for us to grab SECOND PLACE in the Blogging For Fame Competition!

I thought this one, for us, would be a slam dunk.

I mean, second prize is the PERFECT amount for us to make the dream come true... well, plus five grand which would be used to visit the "experts" on Regent Low Heights in person...

Folks, this COULD be the way we do it... so we're BEGGING... please, click here, register, and vote... this COULD make the dream a reality... and we ONLY want to come in SECOND, not FIRST! We'll ROOT for the first place people! We want to lose to them!

Blogging to Fame

Oh, speaking of this... got an e-mail from someone (from our MySpace thingy) about what we'd do if we got the whole enchilada of the grand prize of $100k instead of the second place prize of $25k...? They wondered if we would "give the $75k away"...

Hmm...

Well, after a bit of thought... the answer would be ALMOST yes...

To be fair, however, it would take at least $20k to make the dream come true and buy the bus and ship it to Toronto... it would take a few-hundred to get it to one of it's storage spaces... and we'd like to go (in person) to see the folks of the RLH Information Centre in person to discuss what we'll need to do... which eats the $25k up real good... so, I would STASH about $5k extra for said trip for parts... leaving $70,000.00...

...and yes, WE would give that $70,000.00 to The Canadian Cancer Society... because it's a disease that's robbed us of many loved ones... and we'd like to see it beaten.

So, $30k for the dream AND a few bucks to get it rolling... and $70k to defeat a terrible disease.

...of course, that is, assuming we'd win the "big pot"...

Honestly, we'd be OVERJOYED with coming in SECOND! We're #2! We're #2!

Yup, a true-blue Canadian Silver Medalist!

So please, other than brief mentions, I promise this is the last time I'll waste this much space on this beg...

Register! Vote! Make us a second-place famous blog!

The Police CD Is Hot!

Win a New York fly-away to see The Police live.

Music is a very powerful thing, and often when we recall moments within our lives we realise that a song or a specific style of music has in fact scored that portion of our lives. Never has that held more true for me personally as when I look back to my own teen years, and think of the music of the Police.

I was very happy when I learned that the band would be reuniting for a whirlwind tour, and playing our own fair city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada! And now I cannot wait to get a hold of a copy of the brand new police cd!

That's right! If you haven't already heard let me be the first to tell you that the police cd is a double disc compilation of the very best that is The Police!

It would be hard for me if pressed to name just one song on the new cd that I could say is my absolute fave, because I cannot think of a single song they've ever released that I did not fall in love with. If forced though, I'd say it's "Every Breath You Take", which is a classic, and still has the power to give me goosebumps every time I listen to it ... sigh.... B)

The Police have been called the founders of New Wave, and it is easy to see why because you can hear their influence in so many other bands of a similar musical genre ... yet none have ever come close to duplicating them in my opinion, nor had the continuous success that this legendary band has.

The Police stand alone, unique in both style, and music, and being able to see them perform live again is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity! With the cd though we can listen to them again, and again, and perhaps for those moments relieve those warm memories that their music was so much a part of. :D

It has ceased to be... bereft of life... if you hadn't nailed it to its perch it would be pushing up the daisies...

Sometimes, the classics just DON'T get old...

Ahh... I'm at peace now...

...and what happens when you combine TWO of my favourite childhood things???

WHEEE~!~!~!

New Innovations In Rhinoplasty

Pictured above, the beautiful, and tranquil offices of Rodeo Drive Rhinoplasty.

Have you ever considered having the procedure known as rhinoplasty done? If you have then you will definitely want to read on further as I am writing today about one of the premier facilities located in the United States to have this medical procedure performed.

Rodeo Drive Rhinoplasty is located on one of the most famous, and recognizable streets in the world, Rodeo Drive, Beverley Hills, California. It is most associated with fashion, high style, and beauty. However, you should know that rhinoplasty is not only sought after for cosmetic reasons alone. Those who suffer breathing problems also turn to this medical option to assist them in breathing easier.

The surgeons at Rodeo Drive Rhinoplasty have worked out the best of both possible worlds with their innovative skills, creating a beautiful appearance, while insuring the nose is functioning properly, and as it should.

Nasal surgery (any surgery) is not something that should be taken lightly. The decision to go forward with this type of procedure must be an informed one in my opinion. If you surf on over to the Rodeo Drive Rhinoplasty they provide helpful information, and articles on this subject. You may also call them directly to book a consultation via their phone line: +13105506300

Have a look at the website, and see why they are receiving such positive press, and are considered leading experts in rhinoplasty.

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
