List-er-ino Fridays: Absolute Syrup... but from the absolute heart!

Yesterday, I turned the big four-oh... Yup, it was my birthday and sadly, no, no bus waiting for us this time.

Anyway, I'm now forty years plus a day so it's time to get back on the horse with the ol' blog here (servers willing) and do my Friday LIST!

...and after yesterday, the most important list I could do is...

Top Five (plus bonus) Reasons I'm So Lucky To Be With Sue!

(Sue's my wife, for new readers here...)

#5: She not only tolerates my eccentricities, but either compliments them, adopts them, and improves them!

Seems self evident, but let me 'splain... Sue was a Ufologist before we met... I was studying ghosts and hauntings... and although the two studies rarely meet (but not never!), we found each other... wandering around a former mental hospital... I kid you not.

Top that story on getting together!

On top of the melding of hobbies and interests, she's partaken in and wants to get back to historical re-enacting, she's totally adopted the bus thing, and many more you folks will never see.

In the oft-repeated words from the movie Jerry Maguire, Sue completes me... no, wait, that's not true... Sue completes and makes me better... she completes AND improves me.

#4: She's easily one of the most intelligent people I know.

Like myself (and precious few others,) Sue can carry on an intelligent conversation about almost anything... in fact, in many areas, she educates me on things I thought I knew well... that sounds like a jab, but no... she's genuinely well read and has a great analytical mind. I am SO happy just to spend time talking with her that every moment is a treat!

#3: She often apologises for bringing a boatload of furry critters into my life... even though she knows I'm absolutely batty for animals.

Lessee... two dogs, three cats, two budgies, two hamsters, one GIANT dwarf rabbit... and if she hadn't been a part of my life, I don't know if I'd have any of 'em... and I love them ALL!

#2: She's a great mom with great kids.

All my "kids" are "steplings"... Sue has three kids from a previous marriage... and they're all FANTASTIC and a testament to great parenting... which applause has to go to two sources, but I know they all have a fantastic, caring, loving mother who thinks of all three of them constantly. She's a great and caring person... and it shows in her kids most of all.

#1: She's a damn fine attractive lady!

Okay, this isn't REALLY the "most important reason" for me being around... but it doesn't hurt! (Oh, I'm SO shallow sometimes!!!)

Actually, although I concur with #1 above, realistically, it's her sense of fun and adventure that is the REAL kicker... life is RARELY boring at the ol' compound... and that is what makes Sue so incredibly special to me... but I did promise a bonus...

BONUS!!! Click here, and here, and finally here!

'Nuff said! :)

The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!

This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.

Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.

This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.

If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)

Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!

We thank you for your support!

Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...

LVRI - Atlanta

Today I'm going to blog a bit about a sensitive topic to some. I have never been known to shy away from any health related subject, and I thought that this one may be of interest, and help to some of our female readers.

The subject of vaginal cosmetic surgery can be uncomfortable for some, and perhaps fraught with some misconceptions in the general public.

This is a viable medical procedure that can become a necessity for women that suffer pain, or discomfort, and poor body image, which results in low self-esteem. And with that said, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the most comprehensive online resource dedicated to this topic.

LVRI - Atlanta gives women no-nonsense, easy to understand information on vaginal cosmetic surgery in order to help them gain a better understanding of the procedures available, and to facilitate the ability to make good informed choices.

It is the online home of Dr. John R. Miklos, and Dr. Robert D. Moore who are internationally renowned surgeons based in Atlanta, United States, and whose expertise is within this area of medicine.

If you have any interest in this topic I do encourage you to click on one of the links within this entry. Please be aware that there are pre-op, and post-op photos within this site.

The Current Time in Toronto is...

One Old Green Bus

This blog was started in April of 2006... its original itent was really twofold. One was to be a "sounding board" for it's author... and the other... well...

At the time we started this, your humble author was unemployed and going through the usual crisis situations that arise from being jobless.

We (my wife, stepdaughter, and I,) used to "amuse" ourselves (read: Take our minds off our troubles) by more-or-less fantasizing as a family about what we'd do when things "turned around". Along this route, we discussed going to England on a vacation... and in that, alighted on "double-decker buses".

We kind of adopted one bus... Regent Low Height 3... as Our Bus... and we used to talk about what we'd do with "our bus" if we got it... from fixing it up to the trips we'd take on it.

Along the way, we became students of the history of this bus which HONESTLY seemd it was truly for us... trouble was, we couldn't afford the bus and weren't in a position to work towards the bus... so we had a couple of options...

Since the bus' position was sketchy (there's a chance she might be sold for scrap or "carved up" in other ways,) we could forget about her and pretend she didn't exist...

...or we could TRY... ask for help... put our dream of owning and saving "One Old Green Bus" into the universe and see what happens...

As of February, 2008, we knew that there was a perspective buyer for the bus (not us, obviously,) and made some difficult decisions... The first was that we wouldn't "beg" for help anymore and give the little money we received to a few different charities both online and off... and the second was simply hope that either we find a corporate sponsor (for an "ad" idea we have, click here to about read that,) or even a patron who see's the value in a silly family's dream...

But, if the bus is about to be purchased by someone who's planning on restoring it and they "get there first", we wish them well and are glad that at least Our One Old Green Bus is in a safe place being looked after.

For now, though, we are still hoping WE might be the ones to get our One Old Green Bus and see a family dream come true...

Regardless, this blog WILL continue... and we will still "go for" a bus of our own... but this blog will ALWAYS be dedicated to our own One Old Green Bus.
