Blog yer Blessings

I've already blogged about having a great family as a blessing... but I'd like to pinpoint someone in that family...

Many moons ago, I had a "quick" walking tour of a haunted location (a former mental hospital) with a small group... there was a woman in that group who, by dint of the description she'd gotten from friends and based solely on the worst aspects of my original website, had decided I was an idiot.

No, not because of the whole ghost thing... 'cuz you see she was doing her own work within the field of paranormal studies... both ghostly and with Ufology... no, she figured it was a big "fan club" filled with people that weren't too serious about things... and I was their brainless leader.

During the walk, a young woman asked if I knew about an aircraft crash... to be exact, a DC-10 crashing into the bay near Barrie, Ontario.

When I told here there had been no crash, she responded with something like it was covered up.

This woman was priming to say something to her, but before her mouth got moving, I chimed in... DC-10's are very large planes. They don't fall out of the sky without a lot of people noticing. I think you've got the wrong place or the wrong plane.

Apparently, at this point, this woman decided I can't be TOO big an idiot... and so, later on, she read through ALL the site... and gained a respect for me. Apparently, there was the "up front stuff" that yeah, was geared to the masses... and then the "meat of the site"... and it was the latter that changed her mind.

This kindled a friendship that lasted years... but that's all it was... a friendship. You see, I was very single, but she was not.

Ergo: We were friends and colleagues for literally years.

Then, one day, the woman became single... but even then, she and I only saw each other as "friends" and "colleagues"... and I even made jokes about an aborted date attempt she had... and she tried to "fix me up" with a very nice girl...

...then, one day months later, on an investigation... in a VERY innocent act, I put my head on her shoulder... and the spark was there... and undeniable.

I gotta be honest, I always thought she was attractive, but hadn't considered anything more than that until I rested my head on her shoulder as a friend...

For pure comedy, I wish I had a recording of the phone-call we had right after that... I don't think I've danced verbally as much nor stumbled over my words so often before... eventually, however, it was confirmed... it wasn't just me noticing the specialness of that moment.

From that point, things progressed... rapidly...

...and here we are, many years later, and that spark is still there.

She is my friend. She is my love. She is my partner. She is the most important person in the world to me.

She's my equal in some things... my superior to others... and I help her with the rest... and we learn from each other.

Single, we're both very, very good... together, we're a great power-house of personality and knowledge.

...and most importantly, love.

A day does NOT go by without me ensuring I said I love you as many times as possible without seeming like a bigger loon than I am.

My blessing is my Sue... and my perfect partner in life... and a complete package of beauty and brains... to be honest, and don't tell her I said this 'cuz she'll never let me live it down... she is WAY too good to be stuck with the likes of me!

...but gosh darn, I'm glad I found her wandering around that mental hospital that night!

The standard last note on the old blog... PLEASE SUPPORT THE DREAM!

This blog is here to help promote a dream that an entire family shares... that dream is to rescue an old London Double-Decker bus.

Please, if you have a few minutes, take some time to find out more about this bus and the kooky dream by clicking here.

This bus is VERY special to myself and the whole family, and any help any person can lend us would be most gratefully accepted.

If you or someone you know might be interested, there's our tiny banner site, HelpCoverTheBus.Com and a PayPal donation button (see the upper-right hand side of the blog) and, of course, a Cafe Press shop for T-Shirts and shtuff!
(...and who doesn't need some shtuff!)

Please help us make this dream a reality and save a piece of history!

We thank you for your support!

Please Note: We are also hoping for help from a public relations/marketing standpoint... If you might be able to assist OR know someone who might be willing to, please click here and read this entry...

That is a very very sweet story - a movie could be made out of it.

Wishing you and sue the very best in life!

Wow! What a story! Y'all are truly blessed.

Now, tell me... what about the plane?

Hey CyberCelt... well, no, no large planes have ever gone down into Kempenfelt Bay (the bay in question) and although there was a time when DC-10's went through a bad spell of calamities, there's no "paranormality" involved with them to the best of my knowledge... of course, had this other girl asked about L-1011's which were the "competition" for DC-10's in smaller, wide-bodied aircraft in the mid-to-late 1970's, THEN I would have had a different story to tell! Click here to read more about that! (But that big plane still didn't crash near Barry, Ontario... but perhaps she got an urban myth confused with a "real" ghost story...)

That's quite a line, Matthew, and Sue must be an amazing woman to let you use it in public! Seriously, that's such a nice story of how you both met. It's odd that y'all didn't notice that "spark" earlier but I guess with Sue not being single at the time, it's best the spark took a little time to develop.

I added a link to your site to my blog at Sue's request. Good luck with your quest for the double decker bus and thanks for renting me the space.

Hey Kuanyin... Thankfully, it's an ongoing romantic story! :)

Hey Utenzi... Sue uses the line too! In fact, she usually doesn't let people know it was a WALKING TOUR of a DISUSED mental hospital... and her version is me "wandering around aimlessly" until she arrived...

My revenge, however, is that she's five months older than me... so I tell people she's a cougar... who stole my sweet, YOUTHFUL innocence.

Thanks for the link! I've added a permanent one to you on the sidebar!

There's nothing like a woman with a little extra experience, Matthew, even if it's just 5 months extra. You made a great catch--mental institute or not.

Thanks Utenzi... Hmmm... I like that term... "A Little Extra Experience"... although when I use it, it'll be "Much Extra Experience". :)

Hey, she's a great lady... so I take all the teasing chances I can grab!
