Having Troubles Selling Toronto's Most Haunted House...

Most Haunted House in Toronto?

One of our local TV stations (and a local newspaper a few weeks earlier) reported on a place they are now calling "The Most Haunted House in Toronto".

You can watch a video (and hear a possible EVP) at http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_3236.aspx

(We also have an article on EVP at this link (click here).

I'd argue the point that it's the city's "most haunted"... but then again, I'm not allowed (due to a privacy agreement) to say why...

That's not really the point anyway.

Aside from the rotten take on this (which will be covered admirably today by Sue in the Paranormal Blog... Click here to read the exact article...) and the fact that, in all honesty, it's a recent tragedy adding fuel to the "giggle-factor fire" which is something we find revolting, I find it interesting that...

EGO TIME!

Here we are, a highly respected and old group of paranormal investigators, and how do we find out about this place? Like everyone else... in the news.

Yup, the guy offers his crew a grand to spend the night, they refuse, and no one says, "Hey! Let's contact that ghost group that's online!"

You'd think ONE of the people looking into this might have stumbled across TorontoGhosts.Org in their travels...?

...especially after their harrowing experiences?

On Thursday, all of the "Sun" newspapers in Ontario had a front-page news item about ghost stories from the provincial legislature buildings... and we were swamped (literally!) with phone calls and e-mails requesting interviews from pretty much every news organization...

...but for this house, nothing.

I've tried to contact the fellow from the clean-up crew to no avail... and that was weeks ago with the initial newspaper story.

I'd like to tell him that he can keep his grand, we'd just like the chance to do two or three nights there doing a legitimate investigation... and I admit it, I'd like to ensure one of those nights is with a colleague or two from Skeptics(sic) Canada to boot!

If it's that "busy" with paranormal activity, this could be "our" chance!

We have the trained people, the equipment, the experience... and if there's something there, we might be able to find it... or document it better... I'd hope.

Also, if the house is becoming a "difficult sale" (now being HIGHLY stigmatised,) perhaps our work and visit would pan out.

Heck, if it was a real bastion of phenomena, I'd be trying to raise the money to buy this house HARD! If it really was "something", I'm certain we'd have no problems raising the money to purchase the home... and then we could conduct a thorough study not only of the phenomena and it's causations, but possibly far more...

Over the last decade, I've been laughed at, scorned, and otherwise mocked for our study... I've also been told (even by members of Skeptics(sic) Canada) that they didn't understand why we weren't funded... but if this is THE house, then maybe...

...but I still can't help but wonder... why hasn't/hadn't anyone contacted us about this before?

Do I believe the story? Actually, I do to a degree... but I remain legitimately sceptical... and that scepticism can be turned with a couple of nights, if we take the story from the news at face value.

So, how about it, City TV? How about it, Clean Up Guys? Let us do it right... PLEASE.

You could be assisting with a study and a greater understanding of many things...

If nothing else, consider this a "challenge".

Interesting story. I'd love for you to investigate and let us know if it's true or not.

I live in the Danforth area and I haven't heard of this house. I don't suppose you'd give me an idea of where it is?

I've read Toronto Ghost stories before, some of the stories are quite interesting. Good work.

We know about as much as you do. No one contacted us at all about it... which is odd because City TV did contact us about the Sun articles on Queen's Park... but this one, nope.

Thanks for the kind words!

One Old Green Bus

Allow me to start with we do not own nor are we selling a bus. Just had to get that out...

This blog was started in April of 2006... during a very bad time for me and my family when money was very tight and life was very hard.

We maintained a happier outlook on life by fantasizing... talking about what we would do when times were better... and as Sue and myself are Anglophiles, England factored greatly into our "plans".

During these bad times, while looking at news items which, at the time included items about London removing their venerable old Routemasters, I came across one photo of an old green bus... and somehow, my whole family adopted it. It became very much "our bus". (Details about "our bus" are available by clicking here.)

Like most of you, I'd heard about the fellow who'd made a million dollars selling tiny ads online... and the fellow who did trades and turned a paper clip into a house... so I thought, since we couldn't make our bus actually into "our bus" (well beyond our means,) I'd try an "online" appeal... to make the focused item of our hopes into a tangible thing in our lives...

More specifically, in a burst of adult/juvenile optimism, I had hoped to show the youngest member of the family, who at the time was still very youthful and impressionable, that dreams really could become reality if you hope and, more importantly, try.

Well, I'm pretty sure you figured it out... we had limited succes in this venture... and the youngest has now reached an age where she is more traditionally "teenaged" cynical than much else about the world, which isn't a dreadful thing... but there's a "good news" portion to this... our personal situation with money is better, life has improved, and some people really liked my rambling here... so, I decided to keep things going... Yes, I will "give up" on asking for help on a bus... and have to give up on even trying as hard to get the bus through online means... and yes, be far more realistic... but I don't mind this "turn" of things as I actually enjoy venting, trying my hand at humour, and generally keeping on online presence outside my usual things.

Thanks to those who were/are "Busly Dream" enthusiasts... I suppose that our buses for now will be single-deck with the letters "TTC" emblazoned on them... but this blog will live as does our dream! (It's just a little quieter on that latter bit...)
