NEWSFLASH! People "stay away" in droves from my "commercial blog"!

I was informed via an e-mail nicely, that the reason my "blog" isn't a "success" is that it's about a commercial thing and people see the link as "spam".

Egads!

Well, I suppose this thing COULD be seen as such... but it really isn't commercial... and I'd like to think it's got a bunch of possibilities... and already has yielded some ramblings that MIGHT be useful to some...

For example, there's already been postings about...

#1: Defending myself on message boards (NOT RELATED TO BUSES AND THINGS BUSLY OR ABOUT THIS BLOG) as I'm not a true right-wing Christian American upstanding guy. (I'm kind of a centre-right, Judeo-Christian Ethic Living Canadian.)

#2: My standard rant about "so-called" sceptics.

...and you can bet there's more to come... I mean, I haven't addressed my disgust for the destruction of historic sites, buildings, and yes, vehicles.

...then of course there's my disdain for certain bits of scientific peer review.

...then there's my problems with...

Well, you get the picture.

Although, "officially", this blog is SUPPOSED to be about us getting RLH 3, I do LOVE to go "off topic" and, in many ways, I am prevented from TRULY venting/commenting in many of the other forums I frequent (EVEN MY OWN!), this blog SHOULD act as a wee bit of a sounding board.

So, DON'T BE FOOLED! Although there's an "official" reason for this blog, you'll probably see paranormal stuff, historical stuff, and Gosh know's what else... and yeah, I welcome comments, critiques, and kudos... provided that they're constructive and based on the topics at hand... not on my personality or lack thereof as it's seen.

So, how do I get more people to read this blog? How do I prompt comments? How do I perhaps EVEN get help/information in acquiring the buses???

Time will tell... and the offers of help have ALL been gratefully acknowledged... who knows, perhaps sooner than later, the blog will be to help the one person I've corresponded to get her hearse... and about our trials and tribulations, joyful though they will be, trying to fix-up RLH 3!

...and no, naked pictures of me or nude celebs are NOT in the cards...

One man's trash...

Now you might not-so-mistakenly think this is about RLH 3 and her possibly fate being scrapped to "pay" for her storage fees with her aluminum, but you'd be wrong...

I live in a VERY old building... it's well over 80 years old in fact... and all the apartments have old ice boxes. We have one in our place and use it for storage.

Well, the building management, in a vein attempt to look "modern" are renovating all the kitchens here as the apartments become available... and removing the ice boxes.

Seeing opportunity in what is being tossed in the garbage, the super has told me that the next box to be pitched is mine and into storage here which is GREAT as I want something in the RLH to act as a cooler, but don't wish to carve/cut/permanently damage the bus to allow it... and wiring would be problematic... and to simply jam a Colman Cooler looks... well... tacky. Besides, an "ice box" is period proper to the bus really and gives us counter space WHEN the time comes.

Granted, I checked my Super Seven (big Ontario lottery) tickets and... well, perhaps another time.

Either way, one building's trash will hopefully be our treasure... and a great addition for the cunning plans!

have you ever thought about creating a livejournal blog? with Livejournal, there are different communities you can be a member of and you have "friends" and other people that are interested in the same stuff that you are.... so you might spark some stuff there *shrug* who knows. and it's free, so yay for that, heh.

Friends? What are these "friend" things? :)

...kidding...

LiveJournal and Myspace are both thoughts... but I'm trying to stay here were it's more private and when I make a boo-boo, it's easier to clean up.

Also, this is my first "blog" in a sense, so I'm more comfortable with it sitting on my own servers.

I don't REALLY want this becoming a "Super Popular Blog" as the thing has a "purpose" really... and with any luck, I'm hoping someone (anyone?) who can assist in meeting that purpose reads it... if that makes any sense?

The other "stuff" here is just my ranting... or raving... or simply expressing a point...

Besides, when/if I get RLH 3, this blog SHOULD revert to getting Sara her hearse! :)

trying to convert you to "Livejournalism"... ha ha.

No! I will not become one with the Borg! I will resist the hive!

...kidding...

No, I do see the value in places like LiveJournal and MySpace, but I wanted to mess with my own code a bit... and on my own servers...

I just listed in a couple of "Blog Listing Sites" (not holding my breath) and may look into setting sumthin' up... I have a feeling "Tribe" might also be an idea...

But for now, I'll just keep desperately trying to lure people in with my boring and dull stuff... er, I mean, my exciting entries and dazzling personality! :)

Thank you and NO, I don't think you're creepy at all!

Although the blog is generating e-mails from folks, no ones (save you) is commenting publicly... (That may be a good thing... but the majority of the e-mails are very positive.

Thanks for reading... and notice that I have a category for "paranormal" now... that should allow you to skip some of the nonsense! :)

One Old Green Bus

Allow me to start with we do not own nor are we selling a bus. Just had to get that out...

This blog was started in April of 2006... during a very bad time for me and my family when money was very tight and life was very hard.

We maintained a happier outlook on life by fantasizing... talking about what we would do when times were better... and as Sue and myself are Anglophiles, England factored greatly into our "plans".

During these bad times, while looking at news items which, at the time included items about London removing their venerable old Routemasters, I came across one photo of an old green bus... and somehow, my whole family adopted it. It became very much "our bus". (Details about "our bus" are available by clicking here.)

Like most of you, I'd heard about the fellow who'd made a million dollars selling tiny ads online... and the fellow who did trades and turned a paper clip into a house... so I thought, since we couldn't make our bus actually into "our bus" (well beyond our means,) I'd try an "online" appeal... to make the focused item of our hopes into a tangible thing in our lives...

More specifically, in a burst of adult/juvenile optimism, I had hoped to show the youngest member of the family, who at the time was still very youthful and impressionable, that dreams really could become reality if you hope and, more importantly, try.

Well, I'm pretty sure you figured it out... we had limited succes in this venture... and the youngest has now reached an age where she is more traditionally "teenaged" cynical than much else about the world, which isn't a dreadful thing... but there's a "good news" portion to this... our personal situation with money is better, life has improved, and some people really liked my rambling here... so, I decided to keep things going... Yes, I will "give up" on asking for help on a bus... and have to give up on even trying as hard to get the bus through online means... and yes, be far more realistic... but I don't mind this "turn" of things as I actually enjoy venting, trying my hand at humour, and generally keeping on online presence outside my usual things.

Thanks to those who were/are "Busly Dream" enthusiasts... I suppose that our buses for now will be single-deck with the letters "TTC" emblazoned on them... but this blog will live as does our dream! (It's just a little quieter on that latter bit...)

Should we go back to concentrating on and letting folks know how things are going with our bus? (Kinda back to the good ol' days?)
